Bruising Normal for ART treatment?

Been recieving some ART treatment for ITBS and a Biceps Femoris issue and also severe tightness all around.

After my last go I am bruised immensely. My inner legs look like they 20 rounds in a UFC fight. Does this normally happen others also or is it just me?

Same happens to me… but then, I’m a delicate flower.

The ART may bring tears to my eyes while in progress but I’ve never ever had a bruise left behind…

Very common with Myofascial Release and Deep Tissue Massage. I would expect the same with ART. Use some Arnica on it afterwards (bath, oral, oil). If you need it lighter for less bruising, convey this to your ART practitioner.

Biceps Femoris/ITband/Piriformis/Coracobrachialis and attachments of Biceps and Brachioradialis are the most common bruise locations.

yes, it can be. Depending on what they are working, ART can cause actual trauma (so does properly administered deep tissue massage, and other modalities). I also varies from individual to individual. When I was doing massage therapy for a chiropractor, there were some people who never bruised, and others looked like I pummeled them with a baseball bat with just some very easy massage.

If you do, I would suggest having your therapy on more of an “easy” workout day, or on an off day followed by an easy day…just like a tough workout, your body then needs to heal (although with ART you will heal with, typically, a wider range of motion).

Craigster–side note…I might need your info on who bought the chair. I finally used it the other day, and it BROKE with someone on it --nice right? I know it was top of the line, just never ever heard of this happening. It isn’t the same model as the old one (still wouldn’t use the old one if the brand new one snapped so easily!). I will never ever use that brand again. Very disappointed with their Customer Service, and relieved my malpractice ins. is up to date.

My legs didn’t bruise when the outsides were done just the inside.

My therapy is down on very much recovery days, since my ITB is done and other issues hurt very bad that I cannot run or bike rtight now although I hope to be back at it in about 2 weeks…albeit minimally at first.

Are you using antiinfalmmatory meds for pain? This can increase the bruising. You may want to increase your daily amount of Vit. C this can sometimes help.

I am usinbg about 800mg in the AM and then 800mg at night alkong with icing.

I take a daily and eat fruit. Should I still take supplement.
