Brooks Racer T5

I just bought a pair of Brooks Racer T5’s the other night, and I was wondering if anyone else had a pair and how they felt about them. Everything I read about them online sounded good, just wanted to see how they performed. Thanks.

I have raced in the T4s and loved them. They are lightweight and fairly supportive. Great flat for longer races too. My only beef was that the toe box was a little narrow for my wide feet so I discontinued using them.

I’ve got them and love them. I replaced my Newtons with them. The curved platform was weird at first since but they’re nice. I havent tried them without socks yet though so I dont know how that will be.

In my opinion, they are hard to beat: light, flexible, responsive.

I have a pair as well and love them. For short tris (sprint and oly) I run barefoot in them and found that a strip of duct tape along the tongue works wonders, otherwise they rip up the top of my foot.

cool thanks for the comments so far guys.

Thanks for the tip.

love em wear them only for short stuff as well
.

I bought a pair a week before a half marathon last month. I ran in them for a few miles once or twice before the race to see how they felt before racing in them. They felt good and the race went really, really well. I was expecting to be quite sore after the race because of the minimalist nature of the shoe, but was pleasantly surprised with the level of soreness I felt (i.e. I was sore, but not as much as I was anticipating).

I will wearing them during triathlons (mostly OLY) this season, but fear how they will treat my feet so I will likely wear socks during races, which I haven’t done in the past.

In summary, I recommend them up to the half marathon distance.

I used the T4’s all of last year (4 HIM races) and the T5 for my last HIM. I love the shoe and can’t say enough about it. I used them just for racing the HIM distance and they lasted most of the season.

Be careful with having your laces to tight towards the toe box. If you’re laces are too tight you’ll most likely get a blister on the top of your toe. Also, they run a 1/2 size big. Ie if you train in a 9.5, buy a 10. But most racers are like that. I’m debating using them for IM this year.
