I have trained (and some racing) in Brooks Adrenaline, basically since their inception. It has been a great shoe for me. However in the off-seasons I have been running a lot in the Brooks Cascadia Trail shoe. I really like the Cascadia as my heel/foot sits a lot lower in the shoe and their is not as much posting in the mid-foot. So, that has got me thinking, is there another “non-trail” shoe, Brooks or otherwise, that is similar to the Cascadia? If so, I would like to give them a try.
bump for the AM crowd
.
I don’t think so. Its a trail shoe and the design is specific for that purpose. It fits unlike any other Brooks shoe I’ve worn.

Do you know Alan Martens at Running Circles? The best running shoe guy I’ve ever worked with. He really knows his stuff. I bet he can help you find something.

I actually use the same shoe combo…I think I am on my 15th+ pair of Adrenaline’s and just got the Cascadia for doing the trails. I still love the Adrenaline for on-road stuff, but the Cascadia does have a great feel to it, albeit with less support.
The Adrenaline is a stability shoe, if you find you don’t need the stability as much, I would look to the other shoes in the Brooks lineup that are more neutral and they may have a more similar feel to the Cascadia, the Ghost is neutral and a bit lighter. Other options would be the Defyance or the Glycerin, the biggest variables then become the amount of cushioning they provide the arch height.
I also use the same combination. But probably wouldn’t run all the time in a shoe like the Cascadia. As you said, it has less support, and most importantly, a lower profile which works great at preventing rolling your ankle on the trails. But I find the Adrenaline a good onroad compliment to it.
Check out the Brooks Ghost. Lighter trainer, slightly less heel, good forefoot protection. Right now I’m mixing my running between the cascadia and ghost. Not quite the same feel, but same general idea.

I love the Cascadia for trails and used to run roads in the Adrenaline. I’ve since switched to the Nike Equalon, but, to be honest, I’m not sure it’s an improvement over the Adrenaline. I wanted more cushion than the Adrenaline because most of runs have to be on sidewalks. The Nikes do have more cushion, but the arch support isn’t quite right for my very flat feet. YMMV
The Adrenaline GTS 10 seems to have slightly more cusion than earlier models.
I have one quick question. Does the Cascadia have more rock protection on the forefoot than the Adrenaline (I assume it does) and if so, how much more in relation to other trail shoes?
X2, awesome shoe.

I’ve worm Brooks since I started running. I love their stuff so much I’m part of their I.D. program.
My current run combination is Glycerin for day to day running including road and flat trail. Cascadia for rooty, muddy, rocky trail. Ghost for racing or short interval sessions.
I have custom orthotics and found I was actually overcorrecting in the Adrenaline so switched to Glycerin and have had no injuries at all.
Take a look at the Switch 3. http://www.brooksrunning.com/product/1100721D/123201/Switch%203 I don’t know how much support you need but the Switch looks like it has the same heel height as the Cascadia.
Have you tried the Launch?
Might be worth investigating.
I run trails w/the cascadia; the Launch was the closest I came to buying a pair of their road shoes.
