Yep, I fractured a metatarsal in my foot way back when and it took a week to bruise and swell.

Sure - stress fractures often do NOT show any bruising, but usually have some subtle, localized edema. Acute, bicortical fractures almost always have eccymosis and edema and are pretty obvious. So, where is this?

panicked after reading indytri’s post and got an xray. negative! was on top of foot near 5th metatarsal…thanks for responding guys.

This is where you wait a week and get re-shot to be sure. I once had a wrist X-Ray…nothing broken. Few months later they confirmed fractured schaphoid with avascular necrosis…Rroof can tell me if I am nuts in thinking that there may be a possibility that the same issue that is common with the schaphoid is a potential with a foot fracture.

Record10 is right in that many stress fx take at least 10-14 days to show on X-ray (long bones) or never (his scaphoid or navicular in the foot).

Since we still don’t know what bone you are talking about, I’ll have to assume you had an X-ray AND exam by a competent practitioner who can generally rule out a stress fx clinically anyway …
