Looking for a good recipe for a bread bowl style dip, and a good beer to accompany it.
P.S. god does not exist (three posts in a row without mentioning this was to much!)

now you done it - you’re not going to get your daily bread bowl now
.
can someone make sense of a bread bowl… why not have bread next to a bowl of dip and make life easier?
or dip the ‘bread’ instead?

“Easier” is not always the goal. Some like to add presentation to their concoctions.
I use this one without the chestnuts:

leek soup sometimes challenging to look for but makes the difference
.
Not sure if you are looking for spicy or not but check out this link:
If beer is involved, maybe a chili bowl concept with multi-colored tortilla chips.
If you go with the classic spinach dip in bread bowl concept you are in the white wine sipper’s domain.
Sam Adams Octoberfest or
Newcastle or
Samuel Smith’s Nut Brown Ale
(notice a pattern)
Dice up a log or two of velveeta cheese
Add one can (lightly strained - use top of can) Ro-Tel diced tomatos with peppers
sauteed onions
drained and rinsed black beans
sliced black olives
browned meat or sausage if you’d like
Season to taste with chili season/taco seasoning/you get the idea
Melt over low heat/microwave/crockpot
Thin dip (if necessary) with salsa of choice
Fill bread bowl
Serve with dipping tortilla chips
.
cmon! its ‘retro’!
You gave me that one - it’s a good one!
Your’s is a good one too, I was keying in on the OP’s pairing with beer.
ah yes. I want one now. 230pm and working from home today…hmm…no one can smell your breath on the Internet.
Glad you liked it. Mine is always different depending on what I have in the fridge, pantry and spice rack.
If you’re going to go with the onion dip, at least get some lipton onion soup and sour cream. No pop top canned crap.
Not really a dip, but…
Take a crusty round loaf of bread–sourdough, whatever–hollow it out. Save bread for toasting then dipping.
Place wheel of brie (you can skin it or not) in center. Bake til starting to melt. Top with apple butter (although you could use whatever jam you like). Put back in to warm the apple butter.
Enjoy.
