Brake Pad Holders For Zero G Brakes and Zipp 404 Firecrest?

Hello All,

I received some slightly thinner brake pad holders (1mm thinner each) from Zero G but they are still to thick to work with my new Zipp 404 Carbon Rim.

I purchased some neat Kool Stop replacement pad holders (using Shimano pads vs Campy) that are very thin and will work EXCEPT that the mounting bolt diameter is
too large for the Zero G caliper bolt hole slot.

If no other better solution is available I am going to drill out the mounting hole slot on the Zero G caliper and use the thinner Kool Stop pad holder. (It will also work with thinner rims as it has spacer washers to adjust it.)

I am going to call tomorrow to Kool Stop and Zero G (before I drill it out) for other solutions but in the meantime before I reinvent the wheel has anyone come up with a different solution?

Cheers,

Neal

The easy way is to sand down the pads. I know it’s hard when they go for $50-70 a set, but it is better than drilling on a $350 brake.

X2. I use a grinder on mine to thin them down. For me I only use the pads with my race wheels so not like they really are going to wear out. Plus this also allows me to shape them if needed.
