Bottom Bracket (1)

How do I best determine what Quarq to buy with my bottom bracket? I have a 2012 Felt B16 with a standard threaded bottom bracket (FSA MegaExo) with an FSA Omega Compact MegaExo 52/36T, 172.5mm. As long as it is not a BB30, a GXP or anything else would work, correct? Power Meters are new to me and while I have read much about training with one, it is more difficult to find information on selecting the right one.

Thanks,

I was in a similar situation with my P3.
Bought a 2013 Red Quarq GXP and swapped out the shimano BB for a SRAM GXP BB and then it was a quick and easy install
Very happy with the Red. Works perfect with the rest of the shimano drivetrain

Not sure if this will completely answer your question, but its a great read on understanding BB types a bit.

Well, I would say this, if you’re buying a 1500 piece of equipment, don’t let your 30 dollar bottom bracket lock you in to what one you choose. So to that end, any gxp or mega exo or shimano crank should work with your frame, and a new bottom bracket if you need it will be available for your frame.

You want a crank with a 24mm spindle that’s about 86-90mm long.

Correct. Anything not bb30 will work for your frame. It is just a matter of choosing the right bottombracket for your quarq crankset.

Thanks everyone for the response. This is unique and interesting. I found the article to be a great read (as much as one on bottom brackets can be), but shows the different variations. This will most certainly help me to pick the right one.

Thanks again!

No problem. Good luck.
