Just looking for any info really about Boston, but especially what area I should stay in. I assume near the finish is stupid expensive and probably booked up by now anyway.
Not sure if it’ll be just me and my wife or if my three kids will come so thats a factor too.
Thanks!
There’s a lot of hotel stock in Boston these days. Looking around downtown might find something. Beyond that, I’d look for a hotel on one of the subway lines because traffic is a mess.
There’s a Kimpton and Royal Sonesta in Cambridge, a Courtyard in Brookline, a couple hotels in the South End and Harvard that are pretty convenient to subways.
Lots of places to stay in the city - honestly it depends on your price range. If you find a place near the Boston Common or Faneuil Hall then you’d be in an area that’s walkable to many restaurants. You could also likely walk (it’d be a long-ish walk) to the expo for check-in from those spots, and it’s an easy subway or uber ride from the finish line back to the hotel. The Duck tours have one of their departure areas from one street over from the finish line that give you a nice tour of the city - particularly if you bring your kids it’s a fun option.
If those areas are too rich cost-wise for you, cambridge is right across the river from the city and would also be an easy uber ride over or subway is also do-able if you’re comfortable with navigating that. The BAA posts good info about spectating, but I would strongly urge your spectators if they want to be on Boylston for the finish line to get there early as they have strict security check points and it gets very crowded.
It’s a great race - enjoy!
Also forgot to mention, the morning buses to the start line depart from the Boston Common if that helps your hotel searching
I had a good experience staying at an AirBnB in Watertown, had friends that drove us to the start (bus shuttle that brings you to the start) and picked us up near the finish though. Maybe not as convenient but was affordable.
