Boston area bike fit (1)

Anyone care to share their preference or experiences with any of the Boston area fitters (Fast Splits, Landry’s, Wheelworks, etc)? This will be my first tri fit and I’m mainly looking for a proper adjustment not a pro level analysis.

FastSplits over WheelWorks.

WheelWorks will tend to give more of a road bike fit, even on a tri bike, and after going through some video analysis (i.e. measuring angles on screen, etc), my seat is up a lot more and forward off of the WheelWorks fit, and with the new fit, my hips are not as closed off and I find I am getting more power with less work.

My fit was not at FastSplits, but if I had to get fit again, I would go to them over Wheel Works in a heart beat.

I was fitted by Dean at Fitwerx in Peabody. Perfect fit, right from the start. I am comfortable in aero position for hours.

But this was for a new tri-bike purchase, not a fit on an existing bike

Fast Splits absolutely. Brian is one of the best in the business and the people in there are incredible helpful and honest about everything. Highly recommend.

+1
Brian is a good guy plus it is a Triathlon shop
.

I’ve used both Wheelworks and Fitwerx for fittings, was very happy with Fitwerx and would recommend them to anyone.

x2

The guys at FitWerx, Dean especially, know their stuff and are good guys.

Landry’s in Boston has a great showroom of bikes to check out, but for a fitting I’d go to FitWerx. Was always kind of unimpressed with Fast Splits.

dude TTbikeFit is fairly close…

Todd is DA man!

+1 on the TTBikeFit. Todd takes his time and is receptive to feedback months after the initial fit (offering to fine-tune adjustments).

+1 for Brian at fast splits. Very happy with the results, and he was really sensible about how aggressive to go with the fit - which I think pays off in the end.

I would say FastSplits or if you are a little more west try Grace Bicycles (Roy). Grace does 3 levels of fits but I would recommend Retul, it made all the difference in the world for me. I had gone against that level of fit for a while, didn’t think I needed it, but it was well worth it. Roy even went to Retul University.

Agree with all of those endorsing Brian at FS. I’ve been fitted at both Landry’s and at Fast Splits. The Landry’s fitting was very basic. But Brian went very deep with the fitting (and subsequent tweaks to the fit). One recommendation: Fast Splits gets super-busy on the weekends (and most evenings), so if you do go there make your fit appointment for mid-day during the week so that the fit isn’t rushed and Brian can really spend the time with you.

+1 on Fitwerx
.

See Brian at Fastsplits, hands down.

I would avoid Landry’s and Wheelworks. I’ve had to correct multiple fits from both those shops.

+1 on Todd

+1 FitWerx
Dean was really deliberate and careful and spent a lot of time getting my fit right.

BrokenSpoke

I was pretty disappointed with my fit at Fitwerx. They had me go from a comfortable racing position to an up right, almost hybrid feel. Felt like I was sitting up in the no hands position.

Pat Flaherty at Landry’s in Norwood is fantastic.

Dean at FitWerx 2 is excellent, also Husam at ATA Cycles in Concord really knows his stuff. Heard good things about FS as well. I think what it comes down is which one are you the most comfortable with. They all know their stuff, but they will have slightly different philosophies. Give them all a call and go with the one that gives you the best vibes.

I know I’m bringing up an older thread but, I wanted to throw out a +1 for Fast splits in Newton.

Brian was great in the fitting but also in imparting knowledge about what and why. I think that is almost as important.

I should mention that although I am ecstatic with the fit that Dean Phillips gave me at Fitwerx a few years ago and do recommend them, I would also go to Brian in a heartbeat for a fit.
