Tomorrow I have my first cat1 classic road race of 173km. The wetter isnot that good: 7 degrees celsius with rain. The race has no hills and the wind will be the most important factor.
I cannot decide what tyre I should use. I want to choose between the Continental GP4000S and the Bontrager RXL Pro. Both are 23mm but the bonty has a lower Crr but is more prone for flatting.
Who has experience with the Bontrager RXL Pro Clincher during a road race? Should I use it? Or should I choose the save option and go for the GP4000s?

For those conditions, I think the prudent choice between those 2 would be the GP4000s (assuming their the “S”, black chili versions). Not really THAT much greater rolling resistance (and in a road race this won’t matter as much) but probably better “robustness” with the vectran tread breaker. According to the Tour testing, the Conti also performs fairly well in cornering in the wet.
