My Bike Computer is a Bontrager Node 1.1. While I love all the features it has, I have been having trouble recently with all the buttons sticking. I don’t know if it is from sweat, gatorade, etc. I can not switch screens because the buttons are stuck. Has anyone else had this? How did you resolve? Can you take the computer apart and clean? Thanks for any info. Jeff
I’ve had the same issue since early on with the Node. The upper side button always stick on mine. I’ve tried cleaning it with various things and nothing has worked. I like the computer ok, but plan on ditching it around Christmas in the form of a Garmin 510.
I’ve had some issue with the same thing now and then. The Node doesn’t care for sports drinks I think. I found rinsing it with water seemed to resolve it. Maybe even try warm water. Next might be alcohol with a Q tip.
same problem here.
I’m in the same boat. Thought the Node would be an affordable, adequate alternative to the Garmins, but I’m shopping for a 510 because I can’t get my buttons to work anymore. It didn’t even last an entire season, and I only used it on race day. The Gatorade/Perform/Powerade did it in.
I’ve written it off as a total loss at this point, so maybe I’ll throw it in the dishwasher and see what happens tonight. lol
I’ve had the exact same problem. Both with the 2.1 and the 1.0 (even though the buttons are substantially different). I’ve tried using a razor blade to etch out around the buttons, and then used graphite powder to lubricate them, but that’s only helped slightly. It’s a major bummer, because although I have a 510, I like the size and simplicity of the node for race day. If you’re interested in specifics, you can view my post history - I know I’ve posted about this before.
For the guy thinking about the 510, I’d recommend a Garmin 500. I got the 510 and am less than thrilled - it still has some pretty significant bugs with auto-pausing. Live tracking is nice though.
