Bontrager Hilo RXL speed dial saddle

Seems ingenious!

You can adjust the width of the tip. anyone have one or see one?

I just saw one on ebay on a shiv frameset…

I saw one off a bike,it is adjustable
.

I have the one without the dial and it is awesome. Saddles are highly individual, but it is the most comfortable I have ridden.

We had one here in the store I work at. It looked really wide to me.

Dial it down!

I’ve got the non adjustable one which is the same width as the narrowest adjustment with the speed dial. So far so good. I’m finding myself nose riding it which feels much more comfortable than the too wide Adamos I’ve tried. Thin, but cushy padding as well. Like I said, so far so good and I LOVE the looks of it. That makes it all the better, naturally.

Interesting!

I took a pic comparing the rxl hilo with the dial to the adamo, but freaking picasa isn’t working on my phone so I can’t upload it now
.

I feel like the adjustment piece is close to the seating surface area, I’d be worried if I rode on the nose like an adamo, could be an issue.

Zach-can you try taking another pic?
Thanks.

Did you all pay about $250 or so?

<<I feel like the adjustment piece is close to the seating surface area, I’d be worried if I rode on the nose like an adamo, could be an issue.

Not an issue. I rode this saddle through the summer and that was never an issue. Aside from the adjustability of the front, the saddle material is awesome. I have a couple of pair of tri shorts that for some reason are very slippery on a lot of saddles but on the Hilo not an issue, very grippy surface.

I want one. I reckon anything that can add to my comfort time in the saddle is a worthwhile investment. I can’t find where to get one yet though - but thats sort of ok, coz I’m broke.

Thanks for the reply, tell me, does this saddle ride like an adamo in terms of nose riding? I actually would like something like an adamo that would have the length to extend to 5cm in front of BB, looks like this could be the saddle.

I can’t really say comparing to an Adamo, haven’t ridden one of those extensively. The Hilo is a bit longer then the Adamo Racing, about 1cm longer. I think it also depends on how you set up the Hilo. Tune the prongs wider and it will ride similar to an Adamo, tune them closer in together and it rides more like a regular road saddle with a cutout.

PM me your email address and I’ll send it directly to you. I still can’t get picasa to work on my phone and I’m too lazy to go through the process of emailing it to myself so that I can upload it.

Years ago Trico patented rear saddle width adjustment. So you think adjusting the front offers more?

I’ve just got one of these and fitted it to my Speed Concept.

Is it normal that there is a bit of play on the front of the saddle? The width adjuster works but there seems to be a bit of play in the mechanism - especially on the right side of the nose which can move a bit sideways. It doesnt seem to be an issue in use but I’m just hoping it’s normal, in case some thing is loose in the mechanism and falls out mid ride!

Apart from that, it certainly is an improvement for me compared to the Adamo Prologue I was using.

Zack-

Which Adamo were you comparing the Hilo against? I’m demo-ing the Adamo Time Trial and wonder if it’s “just” too wide and the adjustability of the Hilo is a perfect alternative?

I’ve had the speed dial version for three months now on my SC 9.9 and love it. It is the first saddle I have found for my TT bike that I didn’t just tolerate but actually feel comfortable on. I even bought one for my trainer road bike. I demo’d two different Adamo models at the LBS at the same time and didn’t like them. However, as someone stated previously saddles are very individual and I prefer a slightly softer saddle.
