Anyone have experience with these wheels and willing to comment on them? They are a very reasonable price for full carbon clinchers. I’ve seen a lot of negative comments on the braking performance of other Aeolus models, but can find very little in terms of information or reviews on these. All the Trek dealers I know think pretty highly of them, but that may just be to make a sale.
I have a set bontrager Aeolus Pro 3 on 2018 Emonda slr with bontrager rim brakes with black prince pads. I also have a set of hed black ardennes and hed black jet 6. I ride 3 gap and 6 gap century course all the time in north Georgia.
Having set up the parameters I’ll give u my opinion. If it’s dry the bontrager brakes as good as the heds. I can’t tell the difference this includes stopping power and modulation. When it’s wet the heds win easily over bontrager.
Bontragers are not twitchy at all on steep down hill Decents and I have not had any issues with them.
Summary, if it rains I use the heds or the trainer; else it’s the bontragers.
