i wear 9 in every shoe i own. the bont size chart has me at a 42.5 which is an 81/2. my foot length is 263mm a 9 is 272mm. and an 8 1/2 is 268mm i think a 9 would be to big… for those of who own bonts how acurate is the size chart.
The chart was WAAAYYYY OFF for me.
I did the whole measure my foot thing (283mm) and the chart said I was a 44.5 or 45. I wear a size 12 running shoe, a 46 Shimano cycling shoe (although I could probably go to a 47 Shimano) and a 46.5 in a Bontrager shoe.
I went ahead and bought the Bont in a 46 and it was too small. I exchanged it for a 46.5. The 46.5 was great in the length department, but it was way too wide for my B width foot. As it turned out, if I had just bought the Bont according to the US size, NOT the European size or mm size, I would have been fine other than width.
The actual size of my feet is a 11.5 B.
I bought my bonts in store. I wear a 45 shimano, 11 running shoe, and bought the 45 bonts (they say its a 10.75). I tried a size up and down each way, 45 was the way to go. I would call them “true to size” whatever the hell that means.
You won’t be disappointed. They changed my life.
46 sidi = 46.5 bont sub 10. 13 running shoe
Does the Bont open up or shrink when you heat them in the oven? I am a 11.5 shoe, 46 Shimano and I need to put a thicker insole in. Depending on whether it opens or shrinks will tell me if I should get the 46 or the 46.5.

In my experience it does neither. It softens the shoe and then you can warp it around a good bit. It may take a few tries to get things right. I ended up using a heat gun on mind to do the finishing touches.

I have a few pairs of bonts. Size 43 works for me. My foot measured to 268mm on their chart. My old Specialized road shoes were 43 and my older Shimano MTB shoes were 43. I didn’t have any problems with the sizing. When I first tried them on I thought I had bought a size too small. They do soften up once you cook the shoes to mold them to your foot. I was able to get all of mine on the first try with the heat molding. The shoes do feel a lot stiffer than your standard pair of cycling shoes so it takes a little while to get used to.

So what you say a 42.5 bont is a good for 264mm foot length? I have the same foot length but I’m unsure between 42.5 or 43. Did you end up buying it?
I just got a pair from CRC recently, and fumbled TWICE, the mm chart is way off, at least for me.
I am a Asics 10.5 (kayano/ GT 2160), Shimano size 45 (RD087) fits me well.
My feet measured about 274mm, as per their instructions, and being cautious i ordered a larger size: size 44.5 (281mm), it could have been 44 if you go by their recommendations.
It was still too small, the velcro almost couldn’t close.
So i went 2 sizes up, ordered a size 46 (11), and it was too big, returned it.
in the end, a size 45 fits me, (10.75)
Lesson learned: just order as per the european sizing. don’t bother with the mm chart.
Also, i baked the shoe twice, now the hot spots are pretty much gone, just did my first HIM with it and i am quite satisfied. I wear the bont without socks.
Where did you buy the three pairs? My problem is that I’ll probably spend more in shipping than shoes because the only sellers I can find are in Australia.
I have size 46-narrow, my feet measured 2mm less than the number bont puts on (for length). I ordered direct from bont because of the “narrow” size. They fit fine…they are tight, but that is what I wanted. If they come a little tight, heat them up and push a broom handle (or screwdriver handle) into the toe area. That will give you more room.
I may be more familiar with the measuring techniques because I used to be a speedskater who used bonts before they got into cycling.
For a partially un-related reference, I wear size 44 bont speedskates, size 46 bont cycling shoes…but the speedskates dont have a hard toe box and are meant to fit even tighter than cycling shoes.
From chain reaction, they were having clearance from jan to feb this year, so yea, all the stocks should be cleared by now,
the sub 9 was 50-60% off when i bought it, at around 90-95 Euro, really worth it!
I’m looking to get a pair of Bont shoes. I’ve measured my feet per the Bont’s website and it comes up 47. I’m reluctant to order because if they don’t fit, I’ll have to pay return shipping to Australia.
I wear a 12.5 in running shoes and a 12 in normal shoes. My specialized mountain biking shoes are a 46.
Does anyone have any light they can shed on this?
Bont now has a US warehouse.
I have two pairs of A-One Bonts in a size 46. Running shoes I wear a 12 and 45.5 in both Sidi and Shimano.
I wear a 10.5 2E running shoe. I was wearing a size 43 shimano TR-31 but it was too narrow. The local Trek bike shop measured me with the “new” bont scale at 42, I ordered a pair of hilo rxl’s in that and they were too small. 43 gave a little movement in the heel, 42.5 fits just right.
Here is some objective information.
I have a set of Bont 2016 Vaypor+ in 46 wide.
A current model specialized 44/45 Body Geometry footbed fits (just) lengthways. That is ‘out of the box’. Unmodified. It is a tight fit. Widthwise, the Specialized footbed does not come close, but neither does the standard Bont insole (which is very thin and absolute rubbish).
So, if the Specialized insole can be considered an accurate indicator of size (debatable), a Bont 46 is a Specialized 45 - FOR LENGTH.

Good luck. Their size charts are not accurate, or they do not have good quality assurance on their sizing. I bought a pair a 1/2 size larger than they suggested and I could not fit my feet in the shoes. When I measured the footbed at the longest point it was 5mm shorter than what the size chart said it should have been.
Bont now has a US warehouse.
Doesn’t matter they still force you to pay return shipping to them and back to you. When I was going to return the pair I got last year that did not fit they wanted $26 to ship a new pair a shoes to me. I found a friend that they fit, and decided not to try and order from them again.
Problem is I really need a shoe designed like theirs with the wider toe-box, but not willing to get screwed over by their customer service on the shipping.
I’m on my third pair after using the size chart with no problems. I didn’t bother heat molding them either. Love em!
Cheers,
