Bont cycling shoes (2)

So where is the place to buy them from on the web. Who has seen any deals other the ebay?

Isn’t the whole point of getting Bont shoes that they’re custom?

They are heat moldable so if I get them off the web does it really matter?

and oh by the way, Nestor (the owner) is also the Bont U.S. National Sales Manager so they are by far the best resource concerning Bont in the U.S.

You may get his wife when you call but she’ll guide you the right direction as well.

Hi,

I have a pair of Bont Vaypors. Amazing shoes and the heat molding works nicely - you need to do it a few times to get a perfect fit.

A word of warning about buying them over the internet - the sizing can be a little weird so make sure you buy from a reputable store with a good returns policy.

You won’t regret the purchase. I use them in conjunction with Look Keo Blades. Awesome.

I bought mine from eBay and they worked great! Another way to get a deal on them is to buy them from roadrunnerSports.com. They are somehow affiliated with Nytro and if you pay a one $1.99 charge you get an automatic 10% off with frequent 20% off bonuses. I’ll second the weird sizing thing though. They fit wide out of the box and it took 3 heat molds to get it right. I love them now. I sized 1/2 a size from my Sidis.

Check your sizing on the Bont website first. They have a guide for measuring your feet for their sizing.

Right now DepartmentOfGoods.com has marked down Bont models, including the tri models. These are already heavily discounted. Google “departmentofgoods coupon” and you should find a code that starts with a 5 and ends in a X. This will take a VERY LARGE PERCENTAGE off the already marked down price. And you should get free shipping. That code is good until next month.

So, you can get a pair of Bonts for as little as $65 or so. No joke. DepartmentOfGoods is the same people as Bonktown, etc. and they have a very good 30 day return policy. If you slip into the shoes and they clearly will not fit, you should be able to return them, and exchange them for the correct size IF they have your correct size in stock now that I’ve posted this.

Correction: 90 not 65.

And of course check with your fitter first. The Bonts all have very low stack heights, which will affect your fit.

I you are buying the new Vaypors I think the size chart is wrong. I am a 43 in the Vaypora but ghe size chart says I should be a 41. My “normal” show size is 43.

Bonktown.com had them on a few minutes ago for 55% off.

A half size up or down?

Check my classified add here on Slowtwitch.

Half size up.

Have a pair of sub 10’s, size 44, worn once. Have been too busy to sell them but will take offers. They are heat moldable and can be reheated and molded as many times as needed. Tom

Half size up.

x2

I wear a 42 in every other brand (Sidi, Lake, Time, Shimano, Specialized), but a 42.5 in Bont.

Great deals on Bonktown lately.

How do they fit compared to the specialized boa? I need a narrow shoe and i heard they are wide??

They’re different. I have not molded mine yet, but have compared out of the box fit with my S-works. The Bont materials are not as flexible/supple out of the box, that is the first thing you will feel. They do feel a little more narrow than the S-works, but I assume that is a good thing for molding them to fit. My S-works shoes are just right when it comes to width, I do not have especially wide feet.
For the Sub-8 I was 1/2 size up from my S-works. For the road shoes I’d recommend as much as a full size up, but again I have not molded mine yet.
The Bont shoes are clearly very well made, wether I’ll end up liking them more than the S-works I don’t know yet. The tri shoes do feel like they would be a step up from the Trivents. Stack height is very different from the Specialized shoes to the Bonts, so if you train in one pair of shoes and race in another that’s a factor. I would not be training in the S-works and racing in the Bont Sub-8, for example. For the past year I have been on S-works for training and some races, and Trivents for most races - same last, similar stack height, etc.
