Where on the course will the bars be available?
So far, we have been at every aid station on both the bike and run. It’s our understanding that sometimes there are fluid-only stations where no food is available. But if the station has food, gels, etc…Bonk Breaker will be there.

What is the portion of the bar used on course?
Exclusively for Ironman, we have developed 1.1oz bars called Bonk Breaker Bites. This is exactly half the size of our normal bar. Depending on the flavor, each Bite has approximately 125 calories, 4 grams of protein and 4 grams of fat. Please review the nutritional information below for the Bites.

How is the bar delivered?
Each Bite is wrapped in a similar package to the original product…just smaller. The aid station volunteers have all been instructed to hand out the bars in their normal, wrapped condition. Based on feedback, we can change this if needed.

What flavors are available on course?
Peanut Butter & Jelly
Peanut Butter & Chocolate Chip
Apple Pie

How fresh is the product at the race?
We ship new product in the week before each race.

Chalk one up for WTC - they finally got something right. Bonk Breaker bars are the cat’s ass - love them. I can’t wait to get to the buffet line at IMCDA!

XBillion. LOVE THESE.

Had my first in-race taste at IMTX. Very pleased. Good call by WTC.

I like the size. I actually prefer that they are/were completely sealed (as opposed to the past where they would unwrap the powerbar). I could grab a couple, drop one in the back of the tri jersey, and eat the other. No mess. Not very hard to open on the fly.

best bar on the market, bar none (see what I did there?)
.

Love your bars - the best by a mile!

Awesome bar, took some to Europe last year for my IM to make sure I had my fix. Just a little difficult to get up here sometimes.

If you are looking for a smaller Canadian event (non-WTC) let me know.

Echoing everyone else - amazing bars, especially if you are gluten and/or dairy free.

Are there plans to sell this bite sized bar directly to consumers? I don’t see them on your site, but would be highly interested in the smaller version.

Please never, ever, ever be a food or restaurant critic.
If I ever try a Bonk Breaker, all I am going to be thinking about is a cat’s ass.

Also had my first taste of Bonk Breakers at IMTX. Awesome product. Really, really like the portion size (Bonk Breaker Bites) made for IM races. Already picked up more for everyday training.

These bars are terrible.

Okay fine, they’re great, but I’m worried about them selling out at my LBS and local tri shop.
So far, I’ve had the blueberry and the PBJ and both were among the best snacks I’ve ever eaten (not just ranked among bars).

I congratulate you on developing a great food product. I expect to put on 10 lbs at IMUSAChamps. Any chance you can get a floating aid station halfway through the swim and serve coffee and PB&Chco Chip Bonk Breakers? Nah, better not. i might miss the cutoff.

Glad to hear you like the bars. The Bites bars were made exclusively for Ironman. There’s no plan as of now to have them as a retail product, but it’s certainly a possibility for the future. The feedback on the Bites has been even better than we expected.

Thanks to everyone else for the comments!

Thank god you guys are on the course. Such a welcome change. I ate 3 of the PB and J during Oceanside and had a great race. Since meeting Jason and his crew at Oceanside and being introduced to them, I have used Bonk Breakers on all of my long rides. I’m a whole foods, organic chef and these seriously appeal to me.

luv 'em, I mean, seriously…LOOOOOOVVVVVE THEM

The bars are tasty enough from what I saw yesterday at the Honu Expo but since I haven’t been able to get any in Hawaii before Honu, I’ll not be trying them out for the first time during the race.

As for the future, for me if the bar’s aren’t available in bite size I’ll likely not be using them as it’s too hard for me to chew and run. I have a couple of marathons coming up in the 2nd half of the year and I really like to keep moving in those things.

What races will have Bonk Breaker on course?
We will be at all US-based 70.3 and Ironman events. As of now, we will not be at any Canadian events, but we are working on that.

So just to clarify, does this partnership include Vineman 70.3. They (Vineman) have a press release on their website dated May 7, 2012, that says clif bar was named the official bar/gel sponsor for the 70.3. I know the full race is independent, but the half is Ironman/WTC owned/sponsored. Just trying to figure out if I bought that box of clif bar gels for no reason.

Not only are the bars incredible…but I’m really happy to see a race organizer and a nutrition sponsor are communicating and providing information to the end customer!

Big ups BonkBreaker, big ups!

Just an FYI…we ship virtually every day of the week to HI via USPS Flate Rate, so if you need Bonk Breaker Bars we can get them to you in 2-3 days w/ minimal shipping costs.

We have to do this manually as the system is not set-up to ship via USPS, but as I mentioned, we do it everyday, so it’s not a problem - just shoot me an e-mail if you need any (Brian@PersonalBestNutrition.com).

Good luck this weekend!!

I tried a couple at the Fairmont yesterday and one thing I really liked was how easy they were to chew and get down. A lot easier than most other bars I’ve had.

X2

I never thought I’d see a food comment describing something as “cat’s ass” immediately followed by “love them”. Those two just don’t equate for me.

Mike, Clif Bar is the official gel/bar sponsor for all Vineman events…this includes IM 70.3 Vineman, which is a licensed 70.3 event and not owned by WTC.
