Bone Density = sinking legs when swimming

bad form = sinking legs when swimming

ditto, unless you have osteoporosis, bone density is pretty much the same across the board. BTW there is no such thing as “big boned”

I have a very heavy bone structure, my legs stay at the surface.

I don’t like to think of any part of my body sinking, instead I think of ways that the water pushes me up. So if my legs are low, I want to change that balance and make another part of my body lower, a very bouyant part of my body.

Learn how to kick properly and it shouldn’t be an issue… that and body position.

Thanks for the replies - it seems my original post’s text was deleted by mistake - my son is 5 and his kicking is “erratic”…I had a long swim last night and concentrated on kicking and didn’t seem to have any problem with my legs sinking, although if I was to float freely, my legs always drop perpendicular to my body.

Further to this, what “form” drills are good to help connect the lower and upper body?

in most cases that I’ve seen…

Head up = sinking legs

Get the head down, the legs and hips stay up…

if I was to float freely, my legs always drop perpendicular to my body.

if you were… subjunctive…

back on topic, that’s normal and mine do the same. This is where density/buoyancy come into play - chances are you don’t have much fat on your legs and thus they want to sink.

if you were… subjunctive… **Why would you use the subjunctive here? Doesn’t the subjunctive indicate a contrary to fact condition? Isn’t his a general condition? **

i searched for years to find the person chaining the anchor to my ass. Turned out to be stiff ankles and a bad kick.

It’s not like there are air bubbles in osteoporotic bones. Filled with marrow and blood which probably weighs about the same as bones. My legs sink just fine without the help of dense bones!
