Bond 22: "Quantum of Solace" opens in the U.S. on

November 7th.

The first teaser/trailer will debut in front of the Sony film *Hancock *on July 2nd, 2008. Amy Winehouse is strongly tipped to sing the title song. The film returns to a more traditional gun-barrel opening sequence (thankfully, I usually cry during those…).

You ol’ softy.

I think you mean Amy Winehouse.

I was hoping you were going to tell us it was a July release… and now I have to wait for July just for the trailer?

Here’s to you, my friend!

Yeah man, that chick with the retro boufant…

Totally true to.

Interestingly enough, (or not, if you aren’t Bond obsessed like me…)

The title “Quantum of Solace” comes from pages 92 and 93 of Chapter 3 in “For Your Eyes Only” by Ian Fleming. The chapter is called “Quantum of Solace” and there is a paragraph where a character is describing to Bond the phenomenon in a marriage when two people cease to care about one another anymore, when they couldn’t even care if they were alive or dead. The character (I read it last night but can’t remember his name) describes this circumstance to Bond on the final two pages of the chapter.

It’s an interesting insight into the character of Ian Fleming’s Bond and harkens back to a scene between the new Bond, Daniel Craig, and DAme Judy Dench as “M” in Casino Royale when she implores Bond to remain emotionally detached, then quips, “I trust that won’t be a problem”.

Brilliant characterization and drama.

Here you go Tom, just for you:

Hey Tom, the theme is a duet between Jack White and Alysia Keyes. I can’t believe that you haven’t seen it yet. Maybe in an underground theatre in Mexicotown?

Tom, I so needed you the other day at a colleagues house as his 9 year old son whipped my ass in 007 Scene-It! Fortunately it was not a shutout as his 5 year old sister was on my team and came through in the clutch in recognizing a scene from Spy Who Loved Me. They don’t watch the movies, but watch the DVD in party mode…and absorb everything.

I just moved to the UK and it is all Bond, all the time. MTV had a girl get MADE into a bond girl, Daniel Craig is everywhere on TV/Posters, and there was a Aston Martin parked in front of a neighbors house last night…must be the landlord/owner of the property as most of us are renting. It is actually pretty cool and got to watch Live or Let Die the other day with a very young Roger Moore and Jane Seymour.

Interesting, the interviews have tipped this one as a “sequel” to Casino Royale, which is different. Need to rent that and watch it again before seeing this one.
