Body type?

Having no access to a bike fitter here, I’ve checked my own measurements, trying to get a grip at what morphology I have:

Inseam: 29.9in (76)
Trunk: 24.8in (63cm)
Forearm: 12.2in (31cm)
Arm: 25.2in (64cm)
Thigh: 22.6in (57.5cm)
Lower Leg: 21.3in (54cm)
Sternal Notch: 54.7in (139cm)
Total Body Height: 5´7 (171cm)

Can you tell from these measurements if I’m long-legged/short-torsoed or short-legged/long-torsoed (or even normal, if that’s a possibility…). There was a link here somewhere to an article on that, but the link was broken.

From the discussions here, I’ve understood that pretty much all the bikes can be fitted, although some are designed more towards a certain morphology type. Which bikes would be more adapted?

Looking at Specialized, Orbea, Cervelo, Ceepo, Look, Trek, QR, Argon 18, Scott, aso

long legged short torso.

I’n built almost exactly the way you are… just being 2cm taller and 3cm longer legs, so long legs short torso.

I really think that the best money spent would be to have a bike fit before spending any money at all on a bike. Use the fit numbers you get and then get the geometry that fits you, rather than trying to make you fit the bike…

The actual measurements only tell you half the story… you also need to take in consideration your riding style, your goals, pre-existing injuries/problems, flexibility, core strength etc. A good fitter will do that for you.

Spending $1000’s on a frame and then finding out that it will only work, not work perfect for you is not fun… you’ll probably end up looking for another bike a few years down the road. So why not spend the money right the first time and around and get more time and money to spend on racining/training/toys down the road?

I agree with you, I’ll go to a fitter as soon as I locate one nearby.

But in the meantime, I’ve kind of understood that a Spec Transition might be better adapted to my body type than say a P2C. What about the other brands/models? Any of them better for shorties?..

cannondale is slowtwitch’s gold standard for shorties. talk to a fitter before pulling the trigger on anything.

sorry could not help I plat this half way though long run and it makes me laugh!
Short people

Short people got no reason
Short people got no reason
Short people got no reason
To live

They got little hands
Little eyes
They walk around
Tellin great big lies
They got little noses
And tiny little teeth
They wear platform shoes
On their nasty little feet

Well, I dont want no short people
Dont want no short people
Dont want no short people
`round here

Short people are just the same
As you and i
(a fool such as I)
All men are brothers
Until the day they die
(its a wonderful world)

Short people got nobody
Short people got nobody
Short people got nobody
To love

They got little baby legs
That stand so low
You got to pick em up
Just to say hello
They got little cars
That go beep, beep, beep
They got little voices
Goin peep, peep, peep
They got grubby little fingers
And dirty little minds
Theyre gonna get you every time
Well, I dont want no short people
Dont want no short people
Dont want no short people
round here

something tells me you didn’t do a very good job with the self measuring. Your inseam is only 8.6" more than your lower leg, really, yet your thigh is 22.6"

That doesn’t even begin to make sense.

Hmmm… Yeah, according to that, I do look pretty weird… Thanks for the quality check, I might want to measure again.
