Has anyone else grown sick of hearing Bob Roll say Tour day France?" He seems to have no problems pronouncing the names of the various riders, even emphasizing the Spanish names. This is getting on my nerves.

Roll does so just to torment the French and the haughty. It amuses him and those of us who find him to be a true gem of a writer and commentator.

The funny thing is that he doesn’t care - think he said Heras was the only name he makes an effort to prounounce correctly. All the OLN guys absolutely butchers the pronounciation of Virenque except Phil.
did you see the show where he was speaking perfect French? He speaks the language, but he say Tour DAY France because it is his “thing”.

Bob is a stud. He can pronounce Tour de France any way he wants to. After reading his book I have a whole new respect for him.

It wasn’t the camera angle, it was the wine. I’m surprised they held it together as long as they did.

I thought Bob would grow on me, but he continues to annoy. Perhaps if I read his book, I’d be able to appreciate his “humor” a bit more.
The fact that he mispronounces Tour de France on purpose doesn’t help.
Yeah, it’s just Bob’s way of driving people nuts. He pronounces other names in French that have “de” in them perfectly. Doesn’t he also speak Flemmish? If you have heard him speak Italian in his Giro commercial you know he has a good ear for language. His book, Bobke II , is a classic.

The guy really is genuine though. He would actually go sleep in the bushes so he didn’t have to wake up early to race the next day. The number of stories he has is endless and he really is a nice guy.

Its his overuse of his hands for verbal emphasis that gets me. It is about 500% of what is necessary—every word gets both hands flung out in front of him. But I consider it part of the color of the one time a year I watch OLN. I like him.
