BMC TM01 vs TM02

About to pull the trigger on a new bike. I really like the look of the BMCs and the stack and reach match my old bike well. But does anyone know if there is a difference on how low you can get the front end on these bikes?

I tend to need to run with the front end slammed as low as it can go to get a good position (short legs long body) so if the TM02 can’t get as low as the TM01 I may have to stump up the extra and go for that.

If your position is so low that you need a downwards stem, the TM02 is ideal because you can put on any stem for 1 1/8" steerers.

It’s going well also depends on which handlebar you want to run with …

Planning to run either the Deda Kronos Due or Pro Missile Evo so setting either of these low isn’t an issue. I was just concerned that the TM02 looks higher than the TM01 even though the stack and reach are stated to be the same. Though it sounds like they are both the same.

The stack and reach of both the TM01 and TM02 are the same, since they are the same frame. The difference you need to look at is the pad stack and reach. I.e. can you get your aerobar pads in the correct point in space. With a little math you can measure your current set-up and see how these will compare with what you need.

So what’s the slick front end of the tm01 worth in terms of drag over the 02?

Probably not enough to justify the £2k difference on this side of the pond. Thanks for the advice I’m going to test ride an 02 and see how it feels. Will make a judgement then about the front end.

I own a TM01 and I looked at the stem on it last night and if you turn it as pos. 29-30 -31 - 32 so you can get your TT handlebar down than if you choose a TM02 with a -17 degree stem.

One guess is that you get handlebar 10-15mm lower on the TM01 vs. TM02
