BMC or Felt

Hi all, I’m looking for some general thoughts on a couple of bikes, one of which I will purchase.

Bike 1
2018 BMC TM01
Ultegra DI2
Mavic Wheels

Likes
Brand new design with very cool integrated cockpit
Good brand

Dislikes
Mavic wheels
$$$$$for a bike with cheap wheels AUD10k
Spec with Zipp too expensive AUD 13k

Bike2
2017 Felt ia FRD
Dura Ace DI2
zipp 404

Likes
Proven bike design
High spec
Can get for same money as BMC as discounted in Australia
Solid reviews

Dislikes
Not sure this is a dislike but frame design is now 3-4 years old.

Any comments appreciated

Thanks

Hey mate, what about the TM02? I’ve got the 2018 TM02 with 105 and love it. You can get the TM02 with Ultegra Di2 for under $7k new, probably less if you swap out the wheels and just have training wheels. Very similar frame to the TM01, although cockpit isn’t as schmick.

TM02 was where I started, except for the front it’s identical to the 01. That’s an option for sure… my bike shop would build me one with Etap if I wanted.

Thanks for replying

I’m partial to the new BMC due to its ability to easily remove the cockpit and pack the bike. I haven’t looked at the Felt but if you are travelling with the bike, ease of disassembling the headset and reassembling is an important consideration.

I’d go with the IA but I’m biased; I think it’s a gorgeous bike. Which fits better? If they both work fit-wise then go with whichever you think looks better.

I’ve had both and loved both. Guess you can’t go wrong either way. I had a problem with my BMC where I needed a proprietary part and it was a huge task and took forever to get a new seat post because dealers for BMC tend to be both scarce and on again off again. However Felt has dealers all over here in Massachusetts and is an American company if that matters at all. Anecdotally I’ve noticed Felts tend to get you more bike for less money.

Both those bikes are a bit limited in bar adjustment on the top models.
You’re better to go TM02 or IAx and put a set of good bars with tilt on. That will help you get into your best possible position which will make far more of a difference to speed than having a hidden front brake.
Also gives more room to choose all the other bits as you like. For AUD10k you should be able to build something really nice.
Which city are you in?

Thanks for the reply… I did wonder about front setup with no tilt… the IA10 or TM02 are definitely an option. I’m based on the Gold Coast
