Bloody heels

When ever I race olympic distances races I always suffer on the run due to my heels splitting open and pissing out blood. I know socks will help, but putting them on takes time. I have used spray on protection layers and some tapes but they always peel off in the water.

Does anyone know of any tape that stays on during swim or any other methods to prevent this? Thanks.

I think it’s called leukotape, it’s the stuff physios use (with the super tacky spray). That stuff takes days or weeks to come off. I used to use it when taping my achilles for soccer, and only needed to re-tape once a week. Check your local medical supply store.

never used leukotape. When I played rugby I would LOOSELY apply a strip of athletic tape around the ankle, covering the portion of the heel that ripped open, and etending down my foot to the front. Then I would apply another loose strip around my arch, such that it would overlap the strip from the heel. If done properly, it will not cut off any blood flow and will provide protection while staying in place.

Now, I would use super glue. just put super glue on the part of your heel that rips open.

Been there. You will loose time on your tri overall by simply putting socks on (10-15 secs) than the 1-2 minutes you probably loose running in pain.

I envision some duct tape, a part of an old sling, a stuffed waterbuffalo and some super glue. Or you could just put some socks on and not have to run with bloody heels. Unless you keep winning the race by 10-20 seconds.

You watch some weird porn

I use those little ankle socks. Got a 6-pack of them at Walmart for like 8 bucks, and they take all of 3 seconds to pull on each.

People make porn with all those things in it? Can you send me a link?

Does that really work?

Porn with stuffed water buffaloes and part of a sling? Sure, in some countries.

Ohhhhh, you mean the super glue. Yeah, I use it on blisters all the time. I do all my training without socks so that when i race it feels normal. When you doall your training without socks, you’ll get blisters, but you’ll also toughen up the areas you need to toughen up. I’ve come to love super glue. Its non-toxic and great on sandwiches too!

Definitely BodyGlide. Does the trick every time. Only drawback is it’s bad about attracting grit and grime from the water/road/etc.
