Blister?

I have a painful blister or something on the outside of my big toe. It’s not going away. I tried to pop it by puncturing it with a pin, but it appears that there is no fluid inside. Anyone know what this is or what I should do about it? Thanks for any help.

moleskin - you can get it at a drugstore - cut a donut shape so the blister goes in the ‘hole,’ that will protect it at least.

If you can pop it, put Duoderm over it (this is thicker than moleskin, and is magic stuff… has some antibiotic and is great if you have cut through skin and need to protect it. Always seems to help them heal faster).

Bodyglide is always good too for hot spots.

If you can’t “pop” it, then it is more chronic than an acute epidermal separation (blister).

Obviously a friction point (outside of the great toe). If it is dark/red implies intradermal bleeding, you can shave it with a razor/pumice stone, body glide the area for runs, cover with moleskin or other (as tigerchick mentioned) and press on.

However, you may have a ganglion or myxoid cyst there (not uncommon) or any number of other skin lesions. This is the internet, so playing the odds with a runner … as always, post a photo or seek hands/eyes on medical advice if necessary!

Thanks. Two months post-IM and I have three black toenails, this giant blister or callus and I just turned my ankle shoveling snow.

acute epidermal separation (blister)

Goodness, you MDs have fancy names for everything
