Rocket7’s aren’t for everyone. They will be great for triathletes looking to save 90 seconds in a half Ironman bike split, or 3 minutes in an Ironman. For the aspect of value, the ownership experience is unparalleled. I have 2 pairs that I bought 18 years ago. Racing shoes are basically brand new, with only about 10,000 km on them. Training shoes had 160,000 km and needed new uppers. KC raplaced them because the carbons are still fine. They will probably last me another 15 years. Superior fit to anything because they are custom, better power transfer, and ultimately actually save me money. High end triathletes are spending $600/hour in a wind tunnel, expensive race wheels, $2-3k on custom front ends, $600-1,000/ year on running shoes, top end swim skins will now be $1k, wetsuits at $1,500 etc. Not only that, but if you research custom bike shoes, typically the price is closer to $3k for a pair. Now with the development of these new shoes the light weight and aero dynamic benefits are in a league of their own.

Ya, that’s a HARD NO…

Where are you getting the 3 minute savings in an Ironman

Compared to what shoe?

Great question. When you compare a Bont or Shimano shoe that weighs in at 230-240 grams vs Rocket7 at 165 grams with a stiffer footbed, more efficient power transfer and better comfort, the end result is arriving in T2 faster. There are track cyclists putting out 1700 watts that experience a 60 watt savings with the technology KC has developed. At an average of 220-320 watts there is easily a 10 watt savings to be taken advantage of, which equates to a 3 minute savings.

Are any pros using them?

Another great question. This specific technology has only been in development for the past 6 months. Just recently perfected. KC hasn’t been focused on the under served triathlon market until now. His focus has been more on serving the market segment that have been having a hard time finding a comfortable pair of shoes to wear(feet that stock shoes don’t accommodate). There aren’t any pros currently using them that I am aware of, but from what I hear that might change moving forward.

Are you affiliated with them at all?

At this point in time I am just a 60 year old age grouper doing my best to get faster as there are a number of athletes in my age group on the planet that can kick my ass, and that motivates me on a daily basis. If KC is able to increase sales in a significant manner by offering a desired product that consumers feel is of value, then there is an opportunity to partner up. As a loyal customer of 19 years I will be racing in either the AERO7 or TR1 next season, depending on the wind tunnel results which will be upcoming. They are both 60 grams lighter than my 18 year old Rocket7 racing shoes.

Hoping for a smokin deal on a TriRig Alpha One. The Canadian $ took a major hit in the past few weeks and things from US are getting prohibitively expensive.

At this point I’d be less interested in wind tunnel testing and more interested in seeing any kind of proof they actually increase watts by increasing power transfer. They wouldn’t be the first to make claims like that but I’ve never seen anything substantiated.

10W savings at 200-300W would be significant if R7 can demonstrate it.

Dave, did you notice that you only really answered one of the three questions you’ve been asked?

You didn’t specify how exactly you arrived at the 3 minutes and against what shoe (you just threw two brands around and 10 watts, which looks like a wild guess). A precise answer would’ve been “just guessing”.

You also didn’t really deny being affiliated with them.

i dont know where the pink is but frame stiffness is obviously a key factor for road cyclists that have an ftp of 180 watts and road bike frame stiffness is part of every marketing blurb
funnily it has never made it over the triathlon marketing lingo …

now if you are in the 1700 watts range sprinter that is likely another
matter

wrong question
is there any evidence based studies that proof their claim you should ask

@E-Dub can we maybe split this Rocket7 discussion from the Black Friday Sales thread? It is certainly a worthy discussion, but it’s pretty annoying to see new posts in the thread only to arrive and find it’s more people questioning the same guy over and over again.

I’m not fast enough to need such cool shoes, so that’s good. Anyone seen any hint of Garmin deals?
