Man, does this guy give back or what?
This guy is something else. His efforts on malaria in Africa alone have saved hundreds of thousands of lives.
He is just one man. His accomplishments are enormous.
When it’s all said and done, Mr and Mrs Gates will likely be remembered more for their humanitarian work then their (his) technology and business acumen. I know very little about Bill Gates the man, but much about him as a visionary philanthropist.
You could make a convincing argument that the Gates Foundation, administered by Dr. Gates (Bill’s father), does more for international public health than any other organization, public or private. Commendable indeed. And an example of what can be accomplished with vision and money not encumbered by politics.
I think the people who hate Bill Gates more are Mac users or PlayStation fanboys. There’s really no logical reason to hate the guy, it’s not like he’s a robber baron raping the poor and polluting the earth. He has a big company that arranges 1s and 0s onto plastic discs.
There’s been a good bit of evidence that suggests (some would say makes clear) that when it comes to business the man is less than a saint and has engaged in some questionable practices.
That should not diminish greatly from the fact that he’s made an incredible (though far too silent) impact into the lives of thousands of people.
Many insiders note though that his wife should receive most of the credit for the charitable work/donations, even though it is his money.
