Biking near Charlottesville, VA

I will be moving to Cville soon but was wondering where people rode (road and/or trail)? I’ve seen some pretty good running routes but not much in regards to biking. Anyone have any ideas?

There are a lot of cycling options out there, road and MTB:

Plenty of good riding. Start in Afton and ride Skyline 103 miles to the end or Blue Ridge parkway 469 miles to the end  Park at Devil’s Backbone Brewing and ride up to the BRP at the top of Wintergreen, then hit your choice of gap climbs off the parkway.

Here’s a good resource and good bike shop to boot: www.bluewheel.com
some local routes as well

Excellent, thanks everyone!

I live in Cville and went to a small dinner hosting Ben King awhile back. He’s from here too. He said it’s the best place there is to ride with miles of low travel asphalt roads, the Blue Ridges as pointed out by a previous poster, etc. Go to Blue Wheel Bike shop when you move here, talk to Scott and Roger, you’ll have more places to ride than you can do in a year. Welcome to Virginia!
