Bikefitters: Is the Kuota Kalibur effective seat angle only 74.5 degrees ?!

Leading on from the earlier P3 vs Kuota post, is the seat angle on the Kalibur (due to it’s rear seat fixing) only effectively 74.5 degrees ? I looked at this but thought it was far far steeper than this…

if you go to www.kuota.it and look at their pic of the bike…the tip of the saddle is about 2cm behind the bottom bracket…if thats any help?

on my Omega…which is supposedly 78 degrees…the tip of the saddle is about 2cm in front of the bottom bracket.

1cm = 1 degree ?

2cm in front ? Now thats impressively steep !! I’m not sure if 1cm is roughly one degree but you must be getting on towards 90 ?

it is steep…at least I can ride it with my arse firmly in the saddle…instead of perching on the tip.

If you look on the Kuota website, and go to accesories, seatposts, you will see they do two seatposts for the Kalibur, a laid back one for 74.5 degrees and an inline one for 76 degrees.
I have an in line post on mine with the seat right forward on the rails, which puts my saddle 1cm in front of the BB, and according to the measurements on the Slowtwitch seat angle finder, I’m at about 78degrees.

Nuts. I didn’t know about that and just assumed mine was a 76 when it isn’t !!!

Do any of you shopowners in the US carry this part ?

Scratch that. in a blind panic I just double checked and I am a club 76 man. All I need is to put an arionne on it now and shove that baby all the way forwards.

After reading your posts about how forward your saddle tip is from the bottom bracket, I decided I should measure mine. I dropped a plumb line front the front of the saddle and converted the inches to centimeters. I’m riding my Zipps at 5.08cm in front of the bottom bracket. I never realized it was this far forward. I’ve worked with the local bike shop on fit and have it down to about perfect for me at this time. Not real low but low enough. I drop about 16cm. Which is about 1.5 cm less then when I went in for my fit. The reason I moved so far forward was to open the hip angle as I went lower, since I was curving my shoulders and not flttening my back. We raised the aerobars from 17.5 to 16 to uncurve my shoulders. This did not raise my back at all. I was careful not to screw up the bike handling as I went forward. The bike still handles great.
