BikeBox Alan GPRS race Case

We are looking into purchasing a Bikebox Alan for my TT bike.

Does anyone have any experience with the GPRS race bike box?
Is this something that with the app I can go on my ride/race and my family can track where I am?
Trying to figure out if the cost difference is worth it.

Also how well does Zipp 404s and Zipp 808s fit with the anti-crush pole in place?

Kona Bound!

Thank you

I have the original bike box Alan and the zipps fit perfectly as do any other wheel. The anti-crush pole is a great addition. You won’t be disappointed.

ditto what he said and great bike box. The only neg is that its a little on the heavy side, but when travelling with a carbon race bike that isn’t a problem.

I have used mine all over the world including Europe, China, Kona etc then I purchased an Evoc for my Mtb as I was worried about it being too heavy in the BB Alan, but I then used the Evoc bag with my tribike for a trip up to Phuket. The result was a crushed rear stay and a visit the carbon doctor, which has now been fixed.

That wouldn’t have happened with a Bike Box Alan - trust me, get it. worth every penny!

What about the new box with the tracking system? Has anyone used the new Bikebox Alan GPRS race that has the tracking system?

I have three standard boxes. Can’t recommend them enough. I have Zipp 404/808 combo - no issues at all with getting these in the boxes. Cannot understand the point of a gprs tracker, seems like an easy way to waste a load of money to me. Just go with the standard box, you won’t regret it.

I’ve got a bikeboxalan case that I bought 3 years ago for my 52cm LOOK TT bike. Very slick product, easy to pack, move around and secure - built like a tank.

I would buy another one in a heartbeat. I bought my RED ( a sweet colour) case from a super knowledgeable source www.bikeboxrentals.ca

Fitting ZIPP 404 or 808’s with the anti-crush pole - no problem whatsoever as I’ve fitted 808’s.

My two cents - I really don’t see a reason just like the other comment as to why you would want to get the GPRS version. Seems more of a gimmick, but it is a personal choice of course.

Good luck in Kona.

I don’t have the case, but if you I tested in the tracking aspect, checkout LugLoc. It’s a small GSM tracker that works around the world. You pay when you want to track, no monthly subscription. Now in fairness - it’s not 5 meter accurate, but I used it within the US, Germany, New Zealand, Australia and it’s nice knowing your bag is at the same airport as you are.
