Bike story to make you cry

I bet it does

you got me. Thanks for sharing.

I saw the same thing at the finish stage in Escondido. Yellow scrawls everywhere…my kids came home bathed in yellow dust.

Lance is doing a good thing.

Not quite, but almost.

We who are in the sport and who frequent these forums view Lance from one perspective. This is a great story that illustrates that there’s a whole different perspective on him that can’t be appreciated unless you’ve been touched by cancer.

Good on him.

naw it just makes me wish athletes would be honest so we could really believe in this shit
.

Yeah its just so hard to believe that the greatest cyclist of all time, who happens to be a cancer survivor would come out of retirement to raise money to fight cancer.

Livestrong.

I’m sorry I just can’t get all choked up about a movement run by a guy who resorts to “Why do you hate cancer survivors” every time someone calls on him to admit what is going on with cycling.

I see you learned from him too!

Jackmott, I heard you take drugs. prove me wrong! Oh you were the most tested person ever, Never showed a positive, Nope you are still a drug taker. Nothing will change my mind. But then my mind like yours is very small

If I was a pro cyclist (ANY pro cyclist) in the 1990s and early 2000 I would absolutely support your sarcasm here.

=)

There was no test for EPO when lance was in his prime. Neither he nor any of this rivals tested positive during that time. Many of his rivals who stuck around a bit too long were exposed. hell damn near ALL of them were.

but it isn’t even relevant whether lance used drugs or not. why isn’t he a voice to clean up the sport? he is the patron. why does he DEFEND the lies (remember the guy whose breakaway he ruined in the tour?) instead of exposing them? If Lance was clean he still knew his teammate and rivals were cheating.

Good stuff. Thanks.

Jackmott has no soul. Perfect reply dennis.

Here is a little interview that puts an Aussie perspective on Lances comeback. As long as he keeps up the good work on fundraising and inspiring people then it’s all good with me.If he ever tests positive then I’ll think less of him as an athlete but nothing can take away from the good he is doing through the Livestrong foundation.

There is more to life than cycling!

Agreed, what he does for cancer research and awareness is great
.

Is it hard to be so bitter all the time?

Bill Strickland rocks!

Katy and I met a man and his little daughter (about 5 or 6 years old) that had flow out from CT to see the ToC and Lance. The little girl had a cancer survivor button on and was decked out in Livestrong. It was nice to see how excited they were to be there, pouring rain and all.

I have two words for you. Biological Passport.
Look, the French hate Lance. They cannot believe that someone who lived through cancer can still be a real person, much less a Tour winner. As far as they are concerned, when you have cancer, you are done for. They don’t beleive Lance’s story, and they led the effort to smear him. Are you French?
No sport is working as hard a cycling to catch the cheats. With the biological passport system, you would have a hard time doping with your own blood!

BTW, I was credentialed for the ToC. Here is a gallery. On backstage link, you can see some of the chalk kids and a few survivors:

Well let’s think about it this way. Your best friend, who you’ve known since you were kids, smokes pot. You see your brother smoke pot. You even catch your dad smoking pot once. Now, we all know marijuana is illegal. Do you go to the cops and turn all of them in? I mean, you saw them smoking an illegal drug. And sometimes you even work at the local Boys and Girls club, informing them of the hazards of drugs. How could you, as someone who advocates drug prevention, not send your dearest loved ones to the cops for performing an illegal activity?

I’m not passing judgment here, I’m merely offering a different way of looking at the situation you describe.

Eddy survived cancer? wow, respect.

Thx, you won me $50 which in a recession is big news. My bud bet me that some cretin would turn a great story into a drug post within 10 posts, I said 5.
I’m spending it tomorrow.
