Hi all, its time for the annual sojourn to the USA and Canada. The itinerary this year includes Vancouver and Las Vegas. Can anyone recommend a good bike shop in either city? I’ll be staying in Richmond. Also, is there any site where I can find out if here is a local fun run or event on? Lastly, if you had a day to spend in BC and a plane to catch in the evening, would you spend it in Vancouver or Victoria, or go some other place. We’ll be staying on Salt Spring Island, so I can either take a leisurely ferry trip, or catch a float plane to Vancouver.
Stores - there are only two true road stores in Vancouver - La Biccileta (sic) and Campione. Mostly road background but both cater to tri crowd. Campione carry QR and LSpeed tri bikes. La Bic - Cervelo. PM me if looking for something in particular there are a few other stores a little bit further out that carry more tri gear

Vancouver
there are several shops in vegas, none i would call good. mcghees on sahara is the closest to the strip. they usually have pretty nice bikes in, but this time of year they will be shifting their focus to ski/snowboard gear.
nu vision in summerlin is kinda cool, in a high end euro sorta away. i never went there much … it was a long drive from my house (i lived in green valley) and they have a bit of a snobbish attitude. but they do have some cool stuff. it would be a fairly long drive, or expensive taxi ride, from the strip.
pro cyclery on charleston is a pretty good shop, and they have some tri stuff. but it’s a small shop and they dont usually have much in stock. the guy that runs it, I cant remember his name, is knowledgable, and he lets you know how much he knows.
bike shop … in henderson. nice guys. tiny shop. i went here frequently for tubes and whatnot. limited selection.
bicycle company (also in henderson). nice guys, and knowledgable. but small. road bike oriented, and they didnt really sell bikes. lots of stuff (helmets, clothes, parts etc), and a few frames. i think they’re closed on mondays (at least they used to be).
if you get the chance, try to ride the red rock loop (the scenic drive … its free for bikes). it’s pretty spectacular. but dont feed the burros. they bite.
If you are a tri guy - then the only place in town (or rather out of town) is Triacton - by Greg Timewell - in Coquitlam - phone first as I believe he is off for a week or two
