Bike Shops in Boulder, CO

Traveling for Boulder for an extended weekend in June and I would like to do some cross training in the form of mt. biking in while I’m there. Any recommendations on shops that could rent me a decent FS for a day?

Sports Garage has a nice fleet of demo FS mountain bikes. Boulder Cycle Sport may too. Just be forewarned, not much in the way of mountain biking close to town.

You could also consider University Cycles. They’ve got Specialized, Niner, and Santa Cruz. You can try Boulder County Open Space for trails

What? There is plenty close to town… Betasso, Dowdy, Marshall, Eagle are within riding distance. Hall Ranch is an easy drive (though I ride there some). They may not be the best trails in CO but they are nice to enough to ride.

CycleSsport, Ubikes and Sports Garage are all great choices.
Send me a message if you want trail recommendations prior to coming.

Sorry, you’re right I was a bit blunt. Many visitors expect more options to ride to from town. There are places to ride near town (Betasso being the best IMO) but a car is helpful to get to Walker Ranch (totally worth it), Hall, Picture Rock, etc. Granted one can ride to these places, it’s just a longer day and a fair amount of time will be spent on roads.

But seriously, Eagle??

Ah, now we’re on the same page. I agree with that absolutely.

I keep laughing thinking about Eagle… Imagine a visitor from out of state, all pumped for a Colorado mountain adventure, rents a full squash bike, heads out to the Eagle trailhead and finds… gravel and gates.

I like riding out there with my cross bike though…

Thanks! I will have a truck with me so I plan to drive somewhere semi-close. I have ridden picture rock before and enjoyed that loop. I might head back there unless there are some better spots…

If the weather is nice then check out Walker Ranch which is above flagstaff. If you have a full day, you can ride up flagstaff to get there there’s even a trail/fire road, Chapman drive, open now which gets you halfway up.
