Do you use an off the shelf bike shoe insole or just use the insole that came with your shoes?
If so any recommendations

I take the insole out and don’t use one
.
Generally use the specialized ++ insoles in all my cycling shoes. But currently using the high arch shimano insert in my s-phyre.
I use Giro and Pearl Izumi insoles with adjustable arch support. I have a higher arch on my left and need more support on that side compared to my right.
I use the insoles that came with my Sidi shoes
.
I use the Specialized BG +++ (green) inserts plus a varus wedge.
FWIW, I don’t use anything in my running shoes, I’ve tried many but they never seemed to do much for me other than make my shoes less comfortable.
I have used Specialized BG inserts for the past 15 years or so. I use the blue ones, which are their mid-level of arch support. I find they support the mid/forefoot very well. Interestingly, they updated the inserts a few years back and the new models do not work anywhere near as well for me. I’ll keep following this thread for alternative suggestions.
Having tried different off-the-shelf models due to a recurrent post tib issues, I am a big fan of the ergon IP3 solestar insoles. Had them on a pair of specialized s-works 7 shoes and they gave me problems with numbness and discomfort over long rides. Put them on a pair of lake cx332 shoes, and they are an absolute dream. So happy with them.
For reference: very high arches, relatively unstable ankles.
I over pronate and have Morton’s. I used to wear my custom orthotics in my cycling shoes. It was a poor fit and they are quite heavy. My bike fitter recommended the G8 Performance Pro. They are highly customisable. I have found them very comfortable. They are much lighter than my custom orthotics. They fit well in my cycling shoes.

my bike fitter in houston (Tad Hughes) makes custom insoles for running and cycling shoes. i didnt think they would make the impact they would make… comfort went through the roof which means fatigue goes down sharply.
if you have the dollarbucks for customs and can find someone that makes them i suggest trying it out just to see.
