Is silicon valley cycle centre still the closest shop to Palo Alto, or is there somewhere closer I can rent a roadie for a day.

Front of the Pack rents Cervelo. You can take off from there on lots of great rides in PA, Woodside, etc.
My shop rents road bikes, Cervelo R3 or S2s. Rate is $75 per day and we’re right in Palo Alto. Send me a PM if you know what day you want and I’ll make sure that the right size/model is available.
