Bike Rental and Riding Routes in Las Vegas

Can anyone recommend a good bike shop where I can rent a couple quality road bikes for a few days in Las Vegas as well as good riding routes in the immediate area? I have never been to Vegas and may be there twice in the next couple months and want to do some good base miles (60-80 mile rides) as well as some shorter stuff with my girlfriend.

i didn’t road ride while was in vegas last spring, but i did mountain bike one day and had a blast. used a tour group that picked us up in vegas, drove us out and back, put us on full suspension santa cruz’s, and gave us a tour guide for 4 hours of riding. i’d highly recommend it. i think it was $100. best money that i spent that weekend.

I don’t mean to hijack your thread, but hopefully someone with some knowledge of the area can also provide some info on local pools?

.

I was there last Feb and did 2 awesome routes. First was Red Rock Canyon on the NW side of Vegas. It is about 20 miles out there and the Loop around the canyon (which is quite beatiful by the way) is a moderately hilly 10.8 miles I think (did it twice) then back to town. Saw LOTS of roadies along the way.

The other route, a bit more of a challange, is to go from Vegas thru Henderson, past lake Mead to the Hoover Damn. Awesome ride, but take LOTS of water as there is nothing along Lake Mead. Also, the climb back out of the damn on the Arizone border is a SERIOUS climb with lots of switchbacks, etc. I’m guessing 3,000 feet in about a half-hour? That was one of my greatest solo bike routes I’ve ever done. Felt like a stage in the Tour. I have lots of photos that I took along the way if you want to see them (PM me). BTW, I brought my own bike with me and trekked it through the casino at the Bellagio! Oh the looks of a colorful guy in spandex …
