Nice bike.
Although it never ceases to amaze me how there are people on this forum who post pictures of their bike with all the spacers and an upturned stem.
What is the point of getting a super aero tri bike if you would be more aero riding on the drops of one’s road bike?
haha sweet, two posts and getting ripped on, i thought it would be sooner;)
i am completly flat with the setup right now, as in, my back is almost all the way down, if i went lower i would be pretty much hitting myself i nthe chest with the knees;) although i might try that soon…
your fire extinguisher is too low…
you’re really getting flat with that setup? how tall are you. that looks like a <54 frame?
It looks to me like there are at least of couple of inches of drop from saddle to bars on that bike. The head tube is very short on the Caliente so a riser stem is not always a bad idea. I would imagine that riding the bike as set up would be a lot more aero than riding a road bike in the drops
I was thinking the same thing. I don’t so much mind a few spacers since the headtubes are so low on QR bikes if you can’t stand to go any lower, but an upturned stem just doesn’t look right to me on any bike, let alone a full on aero tri bike.
Looks really great otherwise!

Regardless of position, you’d still be faster on an aero bike than a non aero one.
Many people have flexibility, neck or low back issues. Also the bike could be set up for a middle aged or older MOP AG’er for IM. I fit that description and would ride my P2K a lot different (ie higher) in an IM than I do for sprints or 20/40 km TT’s.
And who sez that going low is always faster for everybody. Just look at Lance’s position in 2005. Higher and faster than previous years.
A good position has three components - comfort, power and aerodynamics. It’s a matter of finding balance between the three and IMO never sacrifice comfort. Performance always suffers if postion becomes too uncomfortable for the rider.
am still getting comfertable on this bike right now, but i think i can prob drop a spacer or turn over the headtube after a little more riding on this one, but as i said, i am pretty much flat across the back right now, this bike is a little longer on the top tube than my last bike (about a cm and a half), so i am a little more streched out and flatter (also more confertable for me).
might post a pic of me on it at some point, but we’ll see
roof the headtube is the next thing to change
.
nice carpet.
You are most correct, but …
Since I happen to know a bit about newbz I can give you a little more info. He is pretty young, like 22 and does mostly sprints to OLYs only. Big diff in an aero bike set-up from a 47 year old IM set up (where comfort matters more than aero) for sure
So, newbz, if the headtube is 'gonna change - what are you looking at!? I still don’t buy that your back is “flat” with that drop - not that there is anything wrong your set-up at all.
Yawn!!!
hahaha thanks for the update on me;)
however, if your going to be giving out info, lets get it right. i’m 20 (very young according to you guys), sprints and half, never done an OLY.
not sure on the headtude, just one of the things i was looking at.
since you guys like to argue, i’ll put the bike on the trainer and take a pic of my posistion jsut for you guys, will be up in 30 min or so.
Ah, youthful enthusiasm. And bold at that! Looking forward to it newbz!

here you go roof, not quiet flat, but getting there, need to drop the front end some more, but i am happy with it, and times have been getting to where i want them, if your or someone else would be kind enough to post the actual pic that would be great.
sorry, but not in the mood to get all spandexed up for you guys, maybe if it were not so late…
Nope, you can definitely flip that stem around as your hip angle “looks” quite open. Bike “looks” the right size, but can’t tell much else (i.e. seat height, etc.). My guess is that if you flip the stem and loose the spacers (not all at once), you would have a nice, aero ST approved position.
Rod, why are you not in bed? It is what? 12:30am there? Do you not have patients in the AM?
its actually 12:37, and i dont know how he does this, works, trains, has kids i hear, and yet still manages to get in enough time that we dont all leave him, amazing.
here’s mine
650c so not st approved but i love it (wished they came with the higher rims but out of luck i gues, if you are shorter than average)
what do you guys think of mine position?
