or
both in Birmingham. Never delt with Transitions but heard good things about them. Bob’s bikes is a great shop and has set me up before several years back.

Thanks…will check them out. I have been in Bob’s but not the other.

Steve at Madison Cycles in the Huntsville area does fittings. However, it is very road biased.

I would definitely recommend Cahaba cycles in Birmingham. When I went looking for a new tri bike, they spent about 30min fitting me to every bike I test rode and then gave me a more comprehensive fitting once the proper frame was determined. They have 3 locations in Birmingham, I recommend the one located at Cahaba heights.
Good Luck!
See Jonathan at Cahaba Cycles in Birmingham, the Cahaba Heights location. Really knowledgeable and will take time to work with you and explain why he is doing what he is doing. It will cost you and they will not offset that on the purchase of a bike.
I think I have been there window shopping in the past. Is that the one in the same strip mall thing as the outdoor/canoe/kayak/camping store not too far from Oak Mountain?
I am not looking to buy a new bike. Just have another set of smart eyeballs take a look and help me tweak things a bit.

I’ll answer for Nakima. He referenced Jonathan at Cahaba Heights location. I think that the store you describe is the Pelham location. See: http://cahabacycles.com/page.cfm?pageId=12&storeId=1 Pelham location is off 31. Cahaba Heights store is off 280, behind the Summit shopping center. I can say Jonathan is a nice fellow and he fit me on a road bike I purchased from them.

My first choice would be Mike at Bob’s Bikes in Homewood and second would be Jonathan in Cahaba Heights. I put Jonathan second only because I have not dealt with him for a bike fitting specifically but he seems to be a very patient conscientious person.
Yeah, what HH said. It’s about 1/2 mile off 280 in Cahaba Heights. Pretty big store.
I highly recommend Transitions. I was fitted on my bike there and the thing they do there that they won’t do at Bob’s, Bike Link or anywhere else is the SPIN Scan on the Computrainer which allows them to analyze each pedal stroke to see where your weaknesses are which you are probably stronger on one leg than the other. This allows them to better fit you and make the proper adjustments.
I’m a little biased because I built their web site but I can vouch as I wouldn’t go to anyone but them to get fitted,

I just got a returned phone call from the guy at transitions (not sure what his name is) and he seemed to ask all the right questions. Looks like I will start with him since he is able to see me on such short notice. Thanks for the information everyone and I will keep you updated.
Michael
(Nice work on their website by the way.)
Well, was able to get a very short notice appointment with Tracy McKay at Transitions and it went very well. I really wasn’t in the market for a full-blown fit because I had it pretty dialed. We were able to narrow down what we think the problem is and I made the changes on the bike when I got home from my trip to Huntsville yesterday. We didn’t have the time to make the changes there since I was on the road but they were small and since I do my own work I just recabled the bike while I was at it.
Hoping for a long test ride today or tomorrow to see how it feels. Spinscan was pretty cool…he has a nice setup there.
Thanks for the advice.
