Are there other certifications about there besides F.I.S.T. or do I want to make sure that I get fitted by someone who is F.I.S.T. certified? If I should go for FIST fitting, why is it better?
I’m looking at buying a tri bike and want to be sure that it is fitted correctly. If FIST is the way to go, then I’ll buy from a dealer that is FIST certified so that i don’t have to pay for the fitting. Thanks!
There are many other bike fit certifications and schools of thought. One would argue that the father of the triathlon bicycle is Dan Empfield and Dan is also the father of Slowtwitch and the FIST philosophy. He seems to have put more concentration on the triathlon position than anyone. You’d do well to seek out a FIST fitter first and foremost.

There are a number of certifications available for bike fitting. All a FIST, Serotta, or other cert means is that somebody took a course. That doesn’t by itself mean they will be good bike fitters. There are good and bad doctors/lawyers/mechanics/candlestickmakers and they all have the same diploma hanging on the wall. You’re probably better off to ask around for opinions regarding good fitters in your area than to look for pieces of paper hanging on the wall.
