I’m interested in potentially purchasing a new TT bike for triathlon racing, and am very interested in modern cockpit solutions, as there seems to be a new brand popping up every month. Curious about how bike fitters would handle different solutions here to present the best option before purchasing since many of these bars run expensive.
Some brands/aerobars to give an idea of what I’m looking at:
Currently running a 2020 Quintana Roo PRFive Disc with aliexpress extensions similar to the profile design ASCs, but my setup doesn’t really give much room for front hydration with a bike computer. I’m fairly average sized at 173cm/65kg but have long arms and need a decent amount of reach which I’m worried some monocoque systems like the Tetsuo won’t provide.
also not sure if this is useful context but I am located in the East LA area if anyone knows bike fitters in the area who they have had good experiences with.
The most important thing to take from Marcags thread is that you need to test positions and bottle locations for yourself.
Just on the cockpit though, you’re not going to get much out of changing extensions or using something that requires clunky adaptors.
One of the biggest gains Marc got was from the basebar. The Wing Ultimate has a 5:1 aspect ratio (7:1 by the stem) and is a lot sleeker than anything that was available when you bought your bike. The ASC Pro is then a logical pairing as it matches the riser system and none of the others are approved for use on PD basebars.
