Bike Fitter in Vancouver BC

The bike fitter database doesn’t seem to cover Canada. Anybody in Vancouver have experience with the local bike fitters? Any recommendations?

Don’t PM him … defeats the purpose of the discussion forum. There are others of us that are curious about this exact topic!!!

BC falls into ‘Northwest’ region. If you do an advanced search on FIST bike fitters and then choose British Columbia, there are 4 listed…3 below in Vancouver area and 1 in Victoria

Vancouver:
Speed Theory
La Bicicletta Pro Shop

Delta
South Shore Cycle

Go figure. I guess it depends on your point of view! Out of the shops listed, does anyone have experience and recommendations? I use La Bicicletta for most things, but was disappointed when the mounted my PowerTap and forgot to put rim tape on the new wheel. Never mind that the computer mount was upside down! I’m hoping that was just a hung over mechanic on a busy Saturday morning and not how the shop operates in general.

I’ve had some really good experiences with La Bicicletta and some slightly disappointing ones as well. Overall tho they’re a great shop and can’t be beat in terms of some of the stock they can get in. But for tri fitting… just go to Speed Theory.

I’d strongly recommend Pacific Multisport (at Main & 28th), not FIST certified but in my experience, better fitting than others in the area.
PM me for details.

I had my fit done at Speed Theory. They did a good job and spent a lot of time with me. I ended up having to adjust further, but only like 5mm on the saddle height. Overall was happy with the fit & service.

I think Speed Theory is pretty good however I do find them to be expensive…which I don’t blame them for because they do have a beautiful shop and I can’t imagine what the overhead is.

The person I would VERY HIGHLY reccomend is Sean Clark of Canwi. http://www.cmscoaching.com/home.html
He lives in Maple Ridge but travels to North Van regularly throughout the week. He is FIST certified and he was absoultely instrumental in getting me feeling good on my bike and because he is independendt he really takes his time without upcharging for every little additional thing he does. Overall just a good experience.

The common problem that I have ran into is that a lot of people try to fit you too low in the front. I also think this is a problem with a lot of the bike manufacturers in that they make small headtubes. My issue with this is that these ideas are great for elite athletes or very flexible people but most newbies or even some experienced people have a hard time getting comfortable with too aggresive of a position. I found that Sean was very “real world” when setting me up.

Speed Theory is my LBS and I’d recommend them to do a fitting.

I’d agree with the recommendations for either Sean or Speed Theory.

I’ve also heard very very good things about Tyler Dumont

He has set up a few friends who had some pretty significant biomechanical issues so that they were comfortable and powerful on the bike.
