Bike Fit Milwaukee Area

Hi

I’m looking for some feedback on where to go regarding getting my bike fit in the Milwaukee area (I’m in Whitefish Bay). I’ve read previous threads which were 2-3 years old recommending Emery’s, Wheel & Sprocket (Brookfield), and Transition. Since it’s been quite a while since from the time those threads were posted, I wanted to get more recent feedback on where to go, and what to expect regarding professionalism, skills, and pricing at each place (I have never had my bike fitted before).

I currently ride a Cevelo P3C in case it helps with the potential recommendations

Cheers

Brent Emery provides an outstanding custom fit. I like Brent b/c of the interactive nature of his fitting. He will put you in the type of position you want (i.e., agressive, relaxed, etc.). I like that even though the tape measure, angle guides, etc. all say you are in the optimal position, Brent will still check every angle again and ask how you feel in the position. He is very detailed and continues to make adjustments in small increments until perfect. I always walk out of there feeling like my fit is perfectly dialed in.

If you are looking for a Retul fit, John Heuninck at Wheel & Sprocket in Brookfield is the place to go. John is highly skilled and does a fantastic job with the Retul fitting.

I agree Brent at Emery’s is good. I would suggest scheduling the fit on a weekday night.
The staff depend on him for almost every atypical question. Which becomes annoying if you want dedicated one-on-one time.

Weekday nights this time of year would be a very good time to schedule a fit @ Emery’s.

STRONGLY Recommend John H. at Wheel & Sprocket Brookfield, the Retul Fit is top notch and John has the knowledge and technology to do an amazing fit!

Thanks for the replies so far, I’ve gone and checked both websites (Emery’s and Wheel & Sprocket) to find out more about their services.

Can somebody expand a bit on the main differences between the Retul System used by W&S, and the approach taken at Emery’s (in case that both approaches happen to be different)?

As I said before, I’m not familiar with the fine details of bike fitting, but would like to get the most out of the investment

Brent Emery here to answer your question about the fitting services at Emerys in Milwaukee.

The main difference I take in bike fit is the fine tuning details to personalize the fit for each persons unique situation. The main triathlon geometry that is proposed by a few industry sources (Slowtwitch and others), when looked at like a stick figure, represents a forward deep position that is aero and facilitates a better run off the bike by changing the muscle use while cycling compared to a more road like position (Big Slam).

While this classic position has great applications for the classic trim flexible body, some people have not only different bodies, they ride more or less, do longer or shorter races, have years of experience with aero bars or are completely new to the position, have different flexibility and disc issues in their neck, etc, etc. We offer a few levels of fitting services and use popular fitting tools, pre-fit questionaires, flexibility analysis, lazers, filming, Computrainers etc, as needed. The goal is always the same. Provide a fit that combines Comfort, Efficiency, Power Output, Injury prevention and Aerodynamics.

As one of the originators of early aero bars, and an originator of our Olympic ‘funny bikes’, and an industry leader in crank length assessment, I have worked with aero positioning for over 25 years. Our business has been advertising my fitting services since 1977. With over 27,000 fits, 38 years of competition, 25 years of coaching, and (unfortunately) the volume of injuries that come with 38 years of bicycle racing, I have the depth of experience and problem solving for bicycle fits that is according to one of the fit system creators, “One of the top 5 or 10 fitters in North America”.

When I work with physicians, physical therapists, masseuses, etc, they come away knowing I have a very complete knowledge of how the body works.

I hope this helps you understand our approach. I give a 1 year comfort and correctness guarantee on the results of the fits we do.

I will also add my recommendation for Brent Emery. Professional and thorough in detail.

Tim at Endurance House (Madison) is great too!
