Bike Fit in Washington, D.C. Area

Anyone know of any places to get a bike fit (both road and tri bikes) in the D.C. area? Thanks.

I go to the Bicycle Pro Shop on M Street in Georgetown. Greg is the manager and a very nice and knowledgable guy. He can help you out with both.

The only problem is that they are very crowded on weekends and off hours. Probably best to get everything done in the offseason if you need a lot of time or go in during a working day.

He is not FIST certified but I have always left very comfortable/powerful on the bikes that I have purchased from them.

As for a professional FIST type fitting. I have heard good things about Dan Berger from the the Triathlon Performance Center in Rockville, MD. Dan can be reached at DanBerger@tmail.com

Hope this helps.

Do a search, Slowman himself posted a recommendation a while back.

thanks.

Have you tried Capitol Hill Bikes? I hear they do a good job: http://capitolhillbikes.com/index.cfm

Also heard of Spokes in Vienna, VA.

You should post at the DCTRI club forum or do a search there on this topic: http://www.dctriclub.net/forum/

GOOD LUCK!

Here it is:

Back to D.C., I’ll second Jeff Palmer @ Spokes.

Dan Empfield
aka Slowman

I would recommend Eric Sorensen, and he is FIST certified.

I’d advise against Capitol Hill, since my fitting I’ve had nothing but lower back pain on every ride.

Who did you get fitted from at Capitol Hill Bikes?

Travis… and I worked there at the time.

thanks for the tips.

Any updates on who the best folks in town are for tri and/or road bike fittings?

I have a fitting set up for thursday at The Bike Lane in Reston. Adam is fist certified. I will post back and let you know how it goes.

Revolution Cycles in Arlington, VA now does RETUL fitting. It is a great shop to deal with.

45 minutes north to Philly andngo to Elite bicycles. You will not regret it.

Josh Frick at cyclelife…Full Retul setup and FIST certified. K St in Georgetown.

Bike doctor waldorf with chris richardson. I bought a custom lynskey from him and its like a glove. When I can afford it I am going back for a seven road bike. He is worth the trip.

Way, WAY back in the day, I manged the Spokes, Etc. location in Alexandria…did a lot of fits there. But like I said, it was quite awhile ago, but they would definitely be worth a look.

I stopped in at Revolution in Arlington on my last trip to DC and was pretty impressed with their shop, as well.

Got my fit done last week and I couldn’t be happier. I would definitely recommend them.

Adam was great to deal with, and got me into what I think is a great position on my Speed Concept. He had nothing but great things to say about the FIST system, and how much he enjoyed the Slowman compound. I will try to get a good picture of my position this weekend.

Good to hear a review of Bike Lane/Adam—I saw when they made the trip to the compound and was thinking I’d have to go for a fit but hadn’t heard anything…
