Hi,
I have been wondering what else I should be checking before i head out on my bike. The things that I can think of include:
brakes
tyre pressure
quick releases done up
Any thing else that i should be checking
thanks
Jason

That’s about all I do before normal rides. When I clean my bike or before a race I check things over a little more thoroughly…
I bounce the bike, lift the front wheel about six inches and drop and then the back… just to check for loose or broken stuff.
About once a week, depending on the weather, I do a cleaning/lubing/inspection. On rainy/muddy (ya know, California-Arizona stuff) every other day… haven’t had to do that in Western Washington in about three weeks (sunny & 60F yesterday, we’ve had colder days in July… )
Make sure seat post and bars are tight.
you might want to try running a search, I think Tom Demerly once posted a checklist
.
Go to www.bikesportmichigan.com and research preventative maintenance. Tom has a list of things you need to do and the timing of each. Very informative.
I check all major bolts and such nearly everyday. I don’t llike to over tighten anything. I’m forever taking my bikes apart, cleaning, lubing and replacing parts. So, nearly erverything is inspected each day before I ride.
Tire pressure is reloaded everyday. Tires can lose over 10% of the pressure per day. Especially clinchers. The tubbies seem to hold pressure better.
