Bike Box Allen and Air Canada

Hello, has anyone flown from the US to Canada with a Bike Box Allen tribike box? From what I have read it seems they won’t allow it. Thanks.

They did 2 years ago. It’s a mission, although I arrive via the UK

I flew with one last Oct to Waco on Air Canada and just paid the bike box fee of $100. It depends on the agent though, they said I was over the weight limit but they’d allow it since the flight wasn’t full.

I can’t speak to Bike Box Allen specifically, but I’ve flown with a few different carriers and Air Canada is by far the best in Canada when it comes to bikes. While everyone has a “bike flies as regular luggage” policy, Air Canada has a 70lb limit, where everyone else I’ve flown with in North America has a 50lb limit.

Air Canada even did me a solid by reserving a spot coming home on Air Scandinavia after the Lahti WC. Every other person on the flight from Helsinki to Copenhagen the Monday after the race had a bike, and there are only so many spots. AC made sure that I had a spot reserved with them since I was then flying on to Montreal.

I haven’t flowing with a BBA, but Air Canada is definitely on the better side when it comes with flying with bikes.

Thanks. The weight of the bike and box is less than 50 pounds but the total dimension of the box is more than what they allow according to their website. I had never heard of an airline measuring but my friend was turned away by southwest as she was checking in for Ironman California from Florida.

I frequently fly to and from Canada with BBA and have never had any issues with Air Canada or any other airline. AC and UA code share so i have flown often with both.

This is also my experience.

I have flown AC several times with my BBA Easy Fit (which is slightly bigger) and never had an issue. You can also call the airline in advance to reserve a space on your flights for your bike. I always do that as I live on Vancouver Island which means smaller Q400s off the island to Vancouver, so I want to make sure there is room in the hold.

Thanks everyone.
