Bike Advice - Santa Clarita, California

We are going to be in the Valencia / Santa Clarita area for the next week. We would love to ride. Does anyone know of organized rides this weekend? Distance can vary. We are not planning on bringing bikes. Does anyone know of a bike shop that rents road or tri bikes?

Sports Basement in Sunnyvale can hook you up: http://community.sportsbasement.com/rentals/bike/. I don’t know of any rides going on, but there are a ton of great options and the weather will be beautiful.

Hi. I live in Santa Clarita. Check the Santa Clarita Velo cycling club and the Santa Clarita Tri Club. I’m sure they have group rides.

As for rentals, I’m not sure, but you can call Performance Cyclery. I’m sure they can help you.

There are some good rides at Magic Mountain.

Cycle World Bikes in Northridge has “Demo” bikes. You can try calling them to see if they have any available.

Sc velo ride as the other poster suggested. This is a “typical roadie” club ride so it tends to be fast peloton style ride with attacking and no aero bars allowed. They meet at 8:15 on both sat and sun at performance cyclery.

Another option is to call a local club called The Paseo Club and ask for info on their Tribe triathlon group. They have a ride and will likely do something this weekend. Nice folks…

Should be nice weather. If you do the sc velo ride, say hi. I’ll be on a black Scott addict.

Oh, and if you like climbs, lots of options in the area.

Have fun. Wish I could point you to a rental spot but not aware of any. Maybe try bicycle john’s and see if they know. I can’t think of one locally unfortunately.

Did you ever find an option for renting a bike? I’ll be in Santa Clarita in 2 weeks and am wondering the same thing… Would love to find out what you came up with for rental options and rides/routes!
