Biggest moron at IMC

Well, my race was a vomit fueled festival of slow, but that’s not the story here. I was riding behind a guy, about a mile after the Yellow Lake aid station. I watched as he filled up his aero bottle and then chucked the half empty water bottle. Then he reached behind, pulled a full bottle out of his cage, and chucked that. Then he reached into his pocket, pulled out an empty gel packet, and chucked that. I rolled up to him and said, “Dude, hold on to your litter!”. He replied, “Well, I have to toss it somewhere.” What an ass. I wish an official had been around.

Funny, I remember these things they had on the bike course, they called them ‘aid stations’…

What an idiot.

The douchebaggery meter is registering an 8 out of 10. Admitting to the infraction without shame - while still a dick move - prevented a certain 9.

I’m sure it’s too late now and hindsight is always 20/20 but if that ever happens again at least report his number to an official.

He’s clearly a class A jackhole. How can he not know better?

the guy was most likely a Texan.

the guy was most likely a Texan.
He wasn’t a Canadian. He would have said, ‘Got to toss it somewhere, eh.’

I saw one guy towards the end of main street tossing an empty gel packet, then almost the entire stretch along skaha, he road on the left side of the lane, kept crossing the yellow line. Had to yell at him to pass him. wish a official was there, he would have been DQed before he even got to McClean hill.

No the biggest dick was number XXX who also littered as well as whipped his dick out and sprayed down about 5 of us after Richter Pass. It took every ounce of restraint not to put that jerk-off into the wall. I am glad he DNF’d

I’ll vote for all the little groups who jumped in my wheel while I was riding on the course, on race day. I rode a fair bit and stopped in different places to cheer.

At some stage (essentially the rollers after richter and then on) when I went by groups of guys riding wheel in wheel with no shame, some didn’t mind taking another faster wheel. I slowed down and let them go by until one poor guy (forgot his number) who was between groups and was either catching the group ahead who then jumped in his wheel or slowing down and let the group behind take his wheel…He was pissed and said he couldn’t do anything and he wasn’t going to attack to blow up the groups because he would shoot his legs for the run.

So, I did it for him  He was quite happy up yellow lake without wheel suckers.

The only guy in these groups who got pissed was…ahem…French. Saw him up Yellow Lake by himself and told him that it looked harder all alone.

Think he might have went down for that one. And hard at that.

aww c’mon man, I find that hard to swallow. I think the OP was just a little testy.

I was just behind that guy going down Richter and saw him sit up and wip it out. It was a real spray and was able to get out of the way on the left as I was passing anyways. I was sure he got the group behind me and now I know he did.

I have a better one. About halfway along the road beside Yellow Lake I saw a chick stop, fill her aero bottle with a frame bottle and chuck the empty over the concrete barrier down towards the lake. I wish I could remember her number as I would happily out her. I did yell at her and did not see her again, I think she was afraid to pass me.

I forgot the couple of guys on bikes, NOT racing…but who used the aid stations nonetheless! There is one guy I saw at the top of Richter and Yellow Lake, getting bananas, gatorade, etc. and even got pissed at the volunteers…no bib number, no numbers written anywhere…I stopped at a gas station to get my food. Didn’t use any of the aid stations.

“I forgot the couple of guys on bikes, NOT racing…but who used the aid stations nonetheless!”

I have no problem with that. I call that a “local tax”…

If some jerk-off came to my town and threw empty water bottles into my lake, etc… the least I deserve is a free banana. =)

Well, you may have a point…that said, an aggressive attitude towards the volunteers to grab a bottle?? the guy deserves a kick in the nuts.

I’m sure it’s too late now and hindsight is always 20/20 but if that ever happens again at least report his number to an official.

I’ve got to think, thats probaly not the best method. I mean if he didnt get actually get caught by the officials, I wouldnt want the race to penalize him based on someone telling an official he littered. If your not caught by the officials, I dont think you can actually get a penalty can you? I sure hope not, only because it can bring in bias.

Francois,

You have been an athlete for quite some time and I was wondering why you felt it necessary to ride on the bike course during the race when it was already an overcrowded course? I only got to witness the race that was going on around me and I found that there was a considerable amount of drafting and the majority of the biggest offenders were from Germany, Austria and Belgium. The only thing they were concerned about was whether or not there was a drafting marshall behind them. The race course is so crowded that I think non-competitors biking the course in the same direction because they have friends, relatives or athletes out there makes it even more dangerous for all involved. Just my thoughts.

  1. It’s an open course. Maybe all traffic, cars, pedestrians, or otherwise should stop moving on Ironman day so you can complete your little race in peace? OR maybe, just maybe, IMC should go to wave starts and/or cap the number of entrants to alleviate congestion.
  2. Yep, it’s always those damn euros drafting isn’t it? Canadians, Americans, etc… are just as bad. It’s not ok to be a racist, but apparently xenophobia is fine?

I’m sorry. I won’t do it again. It’s really bad. My apologies also for all the dirty riding euros. All the north Americans were riding clean.
