Big day timing (HIM)

not sure if this was discussed here before, if so do post me a link…cant find the link. how far out should one schedule a big day of s-b-r for a HIM…great workouts for this/these kind of day/days? cant afford to have a mini epic camp because of work. appreciate the thoughts…

well i had a big work out 2 weeks prior to the race, big meaning 5 hour work out for me. 11 days out i will do my long run 13 miles. 8 days out i am doing am doing Camp Pendleton Triathlon, but i do plan to ease off some what on the run. hopefully i am not too tired from the long run 3 days before. But i believe last year i also did my long run about 10 days before the race and my long bike about 8 days before the HIM. you recover faster from a long bike than you do a long run. so i only switch up the order when i am getting ready to taper.

I shoot for doing a last huge brick (85/5) about 14 days out. I then do my final long run (12-16miles) about 10 days out. I do a final brick (50/3) the weekend before. Everything else is just filler IMO. I try to keep freq. and intensity up…and volume down…during those last two weeks.
