Looking to perhaps by me a new bike (Shiv or similar) and take with me to Europe.
Are there any good bicycle shops around to recommend?
Well, if you’re willing to drive about 3 hours East towards Greenville SC, there’s a little Specialized dealer there called Carolina Triathlon. I stopped in there a few months ago during my travels to that area and they had some riduculous deals on Shivs.
Depending on if you are traveling east or west, Inside Out Sports has a store in Charlotte and 2 in the Raleigh area.
I will stay in hotel in Greensboro during the whole week so it is daily travels after work in Greensboro that is my aim.

Trek Store Greensboro has several Speed Concept bikes in stock at all price levels, and the owner (Chris) is a Retul fitter who used to run the Fit Department at Trek corporate.
Winston Salem is about 25 minutes from Greensboro. Head over to Mock Orange Bikes and they’ll help you out. Good bunch of guys. May want to give them a call ahead of time to see if they’ve got what you’re looking for in stock - 336-722-6678 Ask for Charles or Zach.

I would also have to say that it would be worth making the drive from Greensboro to Raleigh to hit up Inside Out Sports. You’re looking at an hour-twenty if you drive the speed limit, closer to an hour if you’re a normal person.

Between the Trek Store and Cycles De Oro there really isn’t a good reason to leave Greensboro unless you just like to drive.
Try both shops and test ride a few bikes. My allegiances are with the Trek Store as I race for Chris’ team (and feel it is the best shop in the Triad), but you should check out both to see what each has to offer.

Clemmons Bicycle on the west side of Winston-Salem usually has a decent selection of Cervelo and Felt. I haven’t been in there recently so I can’t attest to their current inventory. There are many great shops in/around Winston-Salem (Mock Orange Bikes, Paul’s Fitness, Cycle Therapy) but most of them have little to no tri bikes. I’m not as familiar with Greensboro. I was in Revolution Cycles last week and they don’t have any tri bikes, it’s mostly a mountain bike shop.
For best selection, you might consider just driving down to the Inside-Out store in Cary. M-F they’re open until 8pm so you could get there after work. Enjoy your stay in NC!!!
