Bib numbers and one piece tri-suits?

I’m doing my first triathlon tomorrow at the Santa Barbara triathlon. I am doing the sprint tri, but I just realized one rather painful flaw, I don’t know how to attach my bib number.

I have a one piece triathlon suit that I am going to wear but in the rules slip that they gave me says that I have to have my number attached to my back for the bike and then transfer it to the front of my suit for the run. I don’t think the bib number is going to survive the swim if I have it pre-attached then, but at the same time it’s going to be pretty hard to pin it to my back at the first transition. I’ve been reading all about race belts and the like but I don’t have one and didn’t know that I needed on until now what should I do?

Try a shoe lace or a draw from some running shorts.

Good luck tomorrow.

You can also try attaching it to a Fuel Belt, if you have one, with safety pins (oresumimg it doesn’t have the optional number hokders).

you may be able to purchase a race belt at the venue usually one of the sponsors will be selling them. ask at rego in the morning what you should do.

I had a similar problem, in a wetsut swim though, the TO said pin the number on you chest.

the number did survive the swim

Seriously. Take a pair of underwear. Cut the top elastic band off. Pin the race number to it. Slip it over your waist in T1. Spin it around in T2.

This ws what was used as the first race belts over 20 years ago.

That’s a good one.

Wash’m first
.

Ask around in transition. I guarantee some gear whore will have an extra belt you could borrow

Thanks a ton everybody for the help. I was seriously freaked out last night but I used the shoestring idea and it worked like a charm. You guys are real life savers thanks!
