Better than an aero seatpost?

Seat post is round. When the tubbie/inflator is added it seems that it has a better profile than an aero post.

Thoughts?

Wouldn’t be surprised. A bento box behind the stem wind tunnel tested more aero than without.

Absolutely anything is better than a round section so you probably wont be making things worse

Looks like you could lose the inflator though?

Really ?

IIRC , Thomas Hellreigel set one of the fastest bike splits ever at Kona on a Cannondale road bike w/ nothing but round tubes.

I was talking to the local Cannondale rep shortly after they had Faris in the tunnel and their view was that due to the turbulence caused by the rider’s legs a round seatpost was the way to go. What data are you looking at?

Of course it looks like the new all-carbon TT/Tri bike from C’dale has an aero post so we’ll see if their theory changed

I believe that C’dale may have recently accepted the aerodynamic theory called ‘marketing’.

Cheers,

Yeah, I was trying to be nice

I always forget the PINK!

According to my guru John Cobb a round post is all you need.

do you mean that it looks like the inflator could fall off? If so it was more secure than it looks as the strap is under the trigger thing. It made it through harriman, tupper and imlp.

Calm down aero peeps!! I dont give a toss what type of seatpost someone is running & I dont believe for a second that any particular type would have a measurable impact on a moving bike / thrashing rider system

But ANY other section is more aero than a round one for the same diameter - its true look it up!!! Like I said, having that gear there probably isnt doing any harm. My Ridley has triangular tubes, My Spec has almost square tubes, My Dale has not truely aero “aero” tubes - as for effort expended while riding personally I cant tell 1/8 oz of BS diference between the lot of them!

And yes that inflator looks like it could pop up an fall off - obviously it dosnt GOOD FOR YOU…

True, but my guru, Dr. Cornelious Cobb, says that this design will result in 2.34 seconds faster time in a 40k TT if the wind yaw is between 0 and 10 or between 30 and 35.
